About this episode

Somatic business coach Claire Sophia challenges the traditional hustle culture by integrating corporate marketing expertise with body-led nervous system resiliency. Working alongside Louise Miller, Sophia advocates for intentional pauses and physical awareness as the primary tools for female founders to escape the cycle of professional overwhelm. This approach redefines productivity not as constant movement, but as the ability to negotiate high-pressure moments through somatic regulation.

Claire Sophia transitioned from freelance copywriting to holistic mentorship in December, a move she describes as her most significant professional milestone. She credits the Make It Happen Club and specific resources from Louise Miller for the rapid launch of her new digital platform, claire-sophia.com, within just two months of returning from India. The methodology combines yoga principles with strategic business decisions, emphasizing that a regulated nervous system is a skill of resiliency rather than a permanent state of being. Sophia maintains that high-quality dark chocolate provides essential endorphins and serotonin that support this mental clarity better than traditional snacks.

Louise Miller and Claire Sophia share a lighthearted debate over the merits of dark cacao versus crisps before diving into the serious work of spiritual marketing. Sophia reflects on her journey of overcoming chronic anxiety and the skepticism she faced when first merging her marketing background with somatic practices. The conversation captures the specific courage required to step into a pioneering coaching role when the industry demands safer, more conventional career paths.

We've got to get the most important thing out of the way. Claire chocolate or crisps?

03:15 I I don't go for the cacao necessarily, but the purer the darker the chocolate with less of a rubbish in it is better for me as far as I'm concerned. Those endorphins those lovely serotonin chemicals in chocolate are what I am about! Like I love crisps, don't get me wrong but they're not good for me. They don't like me! I like you Claire, chocolate is good for us... In The Right Form yes absolutely

CHAPTER 03 / 9 Discussion

Somatic Business Coaching and the Importance of Intentional Pauses

Claire Sophia explains her role as a body-led business coach, combining a background in corporate marketing with somatic and yoga practices. She describes the difference between operating from the mind, which often leads to overwhelm, and operating from the body, which fosters intentionality. Sophia characterizes the act of slowing down as a rebellious but necessary practice in the current business climate.

somatic coaching· yoga· corporate marketing· intentionality· business building

03:59 Which leads us nicely on to, do you want to tell us? Tell the lovely listeners what it is that you do. Yeah sure so I'm a somatic business coach and yoga teacher and what that is is I am very much a business coach that is body led um so with my somatic and yoga background And I have a marketing background previously in corporate marketing. Um, I weave those together for female founders of businesses because I feel like personally that you know how we feel is just as important as what we do so i really help people get into their bodies and yeah it feels sort of good to hold some space there for them to then get into the um yeah the more practical business building stuff

04:47 Hmm, yeah and I think there is so much we could talk about around that but can you just speak a little bit to how it looks different when you're in your body and when you're not in your body? When it comes to running a business. Well here we go there's a sign! So actually it's about similar to what you do Louise in terms of taking the intentional pauses And allowing yourself to slow down. So being in my body, as you can tell now is like when I feel slow... When I feel slower and that is such a- I call this like with my clients it's like a bit of a rebellious act in our current climate because we're not taught how to slow down so being in the body um is about for me like feeling slower more purposeful more intentional

05:39 Being in the mind is when, yeah of course we need the mind to like get into action and get into the doing. But that can be not so helpful sometimes if it's then stuck in overwhelm and like oh there's so much stuff to do which is what you beautifully do as well! So yeah I very much feel like the body stuff for me has really helped and that's why... Yeah that's why I share The Magic Of The Body now with my clients as well. Yeah I think it's beautiful Would you agree with this that when you are embodying or getting back into your body and using all of that to help inform how you're doing things in your business, it almost means is easier to make decisions sometimes because that's coming from a place of deep self-trust rather than what we feel we should be doing and getting swept along with what everyone else is doing?

CHAPTER 04 / 9 Discussion

Building Nervous System Resiliency for Better Business Decisions

The discussion addresses the myth of a permanently regulated nervous system, focusing instead on building resiliency. Claire Sophia explains that somatic practices help entrepreneurs navigate periods of heightened stress or activation. By learning to negotiate these pressured moments through physical awareness, business owners can make more grounded and effective decisions.

nervous system· regulation· resiliency· stress management· decision making

06:29 Yes, absolutely. And I'm not saying like anything it's not the like oh I must be calm all the time and I must be regulated Like there's no such thing as a regulated nervous system sorry myth busted But yeah It's also learning how to navigate and negotiate in those times when we're feeling a bit pressured or we need to get on with something and Also working through that you can know we might not be on video today but right now I'm swaying I'm already doing this in the body of Can we learn actually how to build more resiliency within the nervous system? I think there's a lot of talk at the moment about obviously being calm and being slow, but there's also a very big element of

07:08 Working through the challenges as well. So yeah, it's about taking that pause taking that like sort of more You know rest and digest approach but also learning how to Yeah basically like renegotiating those times of maybe heightened stress or activation As well and that can really help us all make better business decisions even if you're feeling a bit stressed Yeah, 100% yeah and I think that listeners of this podcast will resonate with a lot of what you're saying so thank you for sharing all of that with us. And you may already have answered this a little bit but if you've got anything else you'd like to share around why this work is so important to you?

CHAPTER 05 / 9 Discussion

Integrating Spirituality with Marketing and Overcoming Professional Skepticism

Claire Sophia shares her personal journey of overcoming anxiety and the tension she carried during her career. She discusses the challenge of merging her marketing expertise with her spiritual and somatic interests, despite being told the two fields were incompatible. This integration allowed her to transition from freelance copywriting to a more aligned coaching and mentorship model.

anxiety· holistic business· marketing· yoga· professional identity

07:46 Why is it so important? Well, for me personally without going way into stories I know this is short but like I have struggled with this throughout my career. Anxiety, worried about what other people think about me and you know...I have a pretty good mindset! You know, I'm not afraid to say that I do have that faith and trust. As you know I'm quite spiritual person so I had the trust of faith in what I'm here to do But I realised how much I was being held back just by the tension that was carrying in my body. And so, as a yoga teacher started to learn much more about that and then also with somatic coaching and experiencing even deeper. So, I feel that's why it is so important because its helped me first of foremost realise there is the very real aspect of bringing in that more holistic approach to business

08:38 And it's just not, yeah we're generally not being taught how to do that. So that's what I feel is like part of my calling at the moment. Yeah and we can edit this out if you're not happy for me to share it but I remember having conversations with you a long time ago when you were quite early on in your business journey and you were just coming around this way of thinking or coming to terms with the idea that you could fuse all of the amazing experience you've got from your marketing background with this more spiritual side of yourself and it's kind of permission to allow the two things to exist together, to allow you to show up in the way that you're doing now. And I find that really inspiring so... Thank you! Yeah yeah it has been a journey,

09:27 But yeah, I think that is the beauty isn't it of running your own business. Of really stepping into what you want to do and one of the things someone told me was that like I couldn't do it? Like oh you can't mix marketing and yoga! And I was like watch me. There's also nothing like yes there being inspired in the right place but also someone telling you can't do something What's been your proudest moment in your business so far? Oh, so yeah I think this comes to what i know we'll talk about about Make It Happen Club but when I started my business as you mentioned when we connected I was a freelance copywriter and I made the switch more to the coach and mentorship approach and services back in December

CHAPTER 06 / 9 Discussion

Transitioning to Coaching and the Pioneering Nature of Somatic Work

Claire Sophia identifies her shift from freelance copywriting to coaching in December as her proudest business moment. She describes the internal shift required to back herself and step into a pioneering role where few others are operating. Louise Miller commends her for having the courage to follow her intuition rather than sticking to a safer, less fulfilling career path.

freelance copywriting· business transition· mentorship· pioneering· marketing strategy

10:21 And I think that was my proudest moment because it was then that I chose to really intentionally step into what I was doing, because with the freelance writing I was still sort of hiding away and not really sure. That obviously takes time there's no judgement to myself in that process but The proudest moment is just making that internal shift and backing myself to really do the work that I want to do with the people that i want to work with. So yeah, like around six months ago funnily enough! Could there be a connection then? With the fact you've been in Make It Happen Club for six months which brings us to the question how has Make it Happen Club helped you with all of that but before you answer that I just want to go back and say...I just think

11:10 I think it's amazing that you made that decision and you stepped into this kind of new thing that you wanted to be doing in the world. And just for me, again, what is the word am i trying to say? It's like an embodiment of what you're teaching. You felt it was what you needed to be doing And you have the guts and the courage to follow that nudge because so many people will just ignore it and want to stay with the safe, the thing that feels safe even if it's not actually lighting them up. So I just want to commend you for walking the talk by doing that! I think yeah it's awesome. It's not easy when you don't see many people doing the same thing. It's easy to go with a crowd and think do people really want this? So it's a little bit...I'm gonna use this word pioneering

11:55 I love it. To do something that's like, I know I can see the need and I guess that's my marketing background of actually there's something that I need to... That's one of my challenges is actually expressing that like what is the need? Like there's something that maybe people don't recognise that they actually need underneath it all underneath a business strategy so thank you for those kind words! You are very welcome So yes now I will ask you the question With all of that then, how has Make It Happen Club helped you over the last six months? Oh so much! As I say it came at perfect divine timing for me because i just got back from India and then I was like I need to make some decisions and you had a free workshop. So I attended that, I think I'd attended one before as well and um I was like yeah this feels like a really good supportive tool for me. I had so many ideas

CHAPTER 07 / 9 Discussion

Make It Happen Club Support and Launching a New Website

Claire Sophia details how the Make It Happen Club provided essential support following her return from India. She credits one of Louise Miller's free resources with helping her launch her website within two months. The conversation highlights how the club assists members in moving from the idea phase to actual form, specifically through quarterly workshops and intentional productivity.

india· workshops· website launch· productivity· business support

12:48 Way back when we first connected, you! Your free download was the download that made me launch my website within like a month or two. Like it just got me into action so I already had that proof that what you did helped me So I knew for this new phase and this new identity and service That i was going to need some more support with basically following through on things I wanted to create Yeah, that's what Make It Happen Club does for me continuously. Thank you for saying that yeah and it was just great to see you putting those workshops out there and just getting out really spreading the word about what you're doing

13:28 Yeah that was in my plan, that was like quarterly workshops because I love to do things like this. I love to share space with people and you really helped me as well uncover the things that felt purposeful for me in showing up in my business so yeah I have very clear things that I want to get on with and it's still working! Still helping me get those big ideas actually out into form. Yeah, yeah oh amazing I'm so it makes me so happy to hear that and it's so selfishly very satisfying for me to sit and witness people out doing amazing things like you are so thank you yeah And you said...I have just add Louise because

14:12 You mentioned the word embodiment obviously and I do look to people that embody what they do, you are that. The calm intentional approach to productivity And that's exactly how I feel like I work with clients as well. So, your energy and your embodiment is super important to me as well the energy is very aligned so yeah thank you. Yeah no I agree I feel it too sorry we're very happy to have you in the club and I'm very grateful If any of our listeners are resonating with anything that you're sharing, which I'm sure they will be because this podcast is called Unfrazzle and you help people with that as well in a different way to how I help. But if anyone wants to come and find out more about you where can they go?
