The Wrap Up #21.1 - Argh balls! cover

About this episode

Glen Lundy rose from homelessness in San Diego to become a prominent U.S. car dealership owner and the creator of the Rise & Grind show. After a technical audio failure forced a restart of the Team Superdad live stream, Lundy joined host Jonnie Jensen to detail his journey of professional recovery and the discipline required to broadcast 764 consecutive daily episodes. His story serves as the primary case study for overcoming rock bottom through incremental progress and the organic growth of a global brand.

Gary Kenny joined the podcast to provide coaching strategies for divorced fathers navigating lifestyle adjustments and mindset shifts. The F5 framework—Fitness, Finance, Focus, Family, and Fun—remains the central metric for the Team Superdad community, with Focus identified as the most significant hurdle for men in career transitions. The Japanese concept of Ikigai offers a secondary framework for longevity, emphasizing mindfulness and small tasks like gardening to maintain mental clarity. Additional updates include the schedule for The Dad Call, a free bi-weekly video conference for men, and the curriculum for the Hero Academy 8-Week Life Accelerator.

Jonnie Jensen reflects on five years of single life and the utility of vision boards in establishing relationship values without one-sided chasing. The session captures the raw reality of live broadcasting as Jensen manages technical echoes while looking ahead to a 2021 free of COVID-19 restrictions. Guest Gary Kenny brings the everyday dad perspective to the forefront of the coaching discussion.

CHAPTER 02 / 10 Discussion

Focus and the F5 Framework for Personal Development

The F5 framework—Fitness, Finance, Focus, Family, and Fun—serves as the core metric for challenges faced by members of the Team Superdad community. Focus is identified as the most common struggle among participants, surpassing even fitness in importance. The concept of focus is explored through the lenses of daily productivity, career transitions, and major life decisions regarding relationships and family.

f5 framework· fitness· finance· focus· family· fun

01:43 This is the wrap up. It's our weekly celebration of all good and bad from our week gone by, and like I just said we don't know what's going to happen do we? We don't know what's gonna happen! Where are my notes?! I wrote notes... they're gone as well second time today. What does that say? Blimey! I'd written them all down We'll be okay. We will freestyle it, we will freestyle it the week that has just gone focus comes up so much on the Team Superdad everywhere when I have people join they answer some questions right in the Facebook community which is which of the F5 is your biggest challenge right now or most important to you fitness finance focus family or fun and focus wins all the time people pick focus more than fitness come second right and so focus

02:41 I've been working on, I mean i've actually got some books downstairs on focus. There's different elements of it you know its either about getting on with stuff like your procrastination or your effectiveness or productivity during the day Or its just about I don't know what im doing, where am going do I want a new career? Do I want to live somewhere else? Do I want to have more children not have more children leave her stay with her fix it get away who knows where you're at with the word focus But this week I had an amazing guy on the podcast go and listen to it, a guy called Glen Lundy. He is pretty much one of the US's most successful car dealership owners of all time he now coaches and mentors other car dealership businesses and generally people in the automotive trade, the art of trade

CHAPTER 03 / 10 Discussion

Glen Lundy, Automotive Industry Success and Overcoming Rock Bottom

Glen Lundy, a prominent U.S. car dealership owner and mentor, is highlighted for his journey from homelessness in San Diego to professional success. Lundy now hosts the Rise & Grind show and coaches others in the automotive trade. His story serves as a catalyst for a discussion on hitting rock bottom and the importance of taking small, incremental steps toward recovery and long-term goals.

glen lundy· rise & grind· car dealership· recovery ministry· san diego

03:31 But really cool guy and he also now has the Facebook live show Rise & Grind. You can go and listen to all of that but in terms of focus, this guy's a machine! He really struggled at one point his life homeless tries take his life woke up on San Diego Beach and decided that enough was enough And people have got hit that rock bottom where the rock bottom is or how deep that is actually up to you I Can see from my own experiences that we're not always aware that were on that slide and I've been helping a guy this week who got introduced to me and sadly he's having some trouble with alcohol when he's in a home at the moment like it's like a shelter.

04:17 And it is desperate just talking with him and seeing his struggle. And thankfully, reaching out to my community I've been able to connect him up with a pastor, a guy who runs a recovery ministry now. Now I don't know what's going to happen here right? You know, I'm not anything more than a friend team really right at this point and he's The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Glen, DatingDad, Ikigaii,

05:03 Like what might not be we want to hear it might not seem possible like how on earth am I can actually achieve that but. It's only by taking tiny steps and this is what i'm saying to these guys you don't need to fix the whole problem just gonna make tiny steps on the way to, the solution that your looking for because he's terrified he thought i cant do it i dont know if try before i cant do it and im saying Well, let's just look at what you can do today. Let's look at what you could do today? Who could you call today or what agency or support service could you help today ask for help from today and we're the same if we've got a goal we want in life it's ridiculous to look at the end game that's the final objective like I want to be the president You can't all the prime minister wherever country you're in right you can't become one of those until you run

CHAPTER 04 / 10 Discussion

Rise and Grind Facebook Live Consistency and Brand Growth

Glen Lundy achieved a milestone of 764 consecutive daily live streams on his Facebook page, Rise and Grind. Starting from a makeshift studio in a closet to improve acoustics, the show has since surpassed 2 million listens. This consistency led to the organic development of a dedicated community and the launch of a signature coffee brand.

glen lundy· rise and grind· facebook live· coffee brand· content creation

05:52 Glen, Amazing. He's done 762, it'll be four after today, 764 consecutive live streams on his Facebook Rise and Grind page and it's amazing if you go back and look at number one compared to where he's at today and he said to me himself on the podcast the first one I did in a cupboard because its better sound effects um I just hid hid the clothes and mess away from the camera and I just did

06:43 And now 763 episodes later, hasn't missed a day. He has had over 2 million listens the audience has Demanded in his words a Facebook community have demanded for live events like face to face events. He's called the show Rise and Grind he now got his own coffee brand, it's insane but and he didn't have a plan for that at the start other than he knew you wanted to do something he wanted to do something on a Facebook Live he wanted to do something that was a different message to the one he felt was out there in the world so he had I'm

CHAPTER 05 / 10 Discussion

Ikigai Principles, Mindfulness, and Longevity in Japanese Culture

The Japanese concept of Ikigai is presented as a framework for finding peace through community, mindfulness, and small, engaging tasks like gardening or painting. Observations of Japanese centenarians suggest that staying active and busy with meaningful work contributes to longevity. These principles are linked to the necessity of maintaining physical health and positive relationships to achieve mental focus.

ikigai· mindfulness· meditation· japanese culture· longevity

07:53 Is brilliantly simple and that's the thing about life in a simple things in life or achieving what we want in life is often happens by doing the simple things consistently and ikigai It's about community, it's about mindfulness. Now I don't think everyone has to sit around and meditate but it is finding times to be at peace with yourself time and finding times to let your mind rest equally and conversely being busy being someone who continues to work in Ikigai it talks about small tasks like

08:34 Being able to do something, knitting would be a small task. Okay? For some people gardening or painting or playing the guitar you know these are like small tasks that because they're distracting your day-to-day thoughts because you're focused on something smaller and specific then that is relaxing to the mind but in terms of keeping on working like being busy person, being someone who's active and they talk about Japanese people who were over 100 years old many of them continued The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Glen, DatingDad, Ikigai,

09:30 A blog or we go on a webinar, or we like watch it talk or video on YouTube when they're talking about these kind of things. It's not new! I'm talking about it now. It's not new and focus people come into the Team Superdad community and ask where do they get focused? How do I get more focused is about adapting some of the principles across our whole life because if you've got stressed out Mind and you're completely unhealthy and you eating junk and drinking coffee and alcohol. I'm not saying you can't drink coffee or alcohol, but if you just taking on board a lot of it not sleeping well, not having good relationships with your family, your children, your neighbours, not bringing a positive spirit then guess what? Being focused is going to be bloody hard!

CHAPTER 08 / 10 Discussion

Dating Perspectives and Relationship Values for Men

A discussion on dating highlights the importance of being transparent about intentions and avoiding "one-sided chasing." Personal values such as fitness, confidence, and a lack of "drama" are identified as essential criteria for new partners. The host reflects on five years of being single and the role of a vision board in clarifying relationship goals.

datingdad· flirting· relationship values· vision board· fitness

12:59 What's his name? Glen and I had spoken all about presents, so you missed that. It's gone in the bin it's gone in the junk folder because when Glenn was on it was echoing! I didn't realise till I went to watch the recording so that went in the bin but we were talking about presents and what we're getting our kids and obviously him being The Dating Dad We did touch a little bit on dating... The story of my dating We're on to the next page really. The awesome lady who I went on a couple of dates with, we are going to stay friends and hang out some more and i think that's probably about as far as that's gonna go you know flirting is fun and it's not like it has to get serious that's certainly not the case for me right now if i fall in love that'll be amazing but i'm not out there to get really serious with someone or even

13:53 I get really exclusive with someone. Not had a relationship in five years, so it's not like I'm suddenly going to be playing the field but as a man in this situation, I found or am taking on being as straight as I possibly can be in these situations but also flirting is fun. Flirting is fun. Going out on dates is fun but chasing When it's one-sided, I don't think that's a lot of fun. I don't think at 46 that's necessarily what I plan on doing so i'd love to hear your experiences about that Glen the Dating Dad and the other Team Superdad wrap up crew we're going to be talking about those and all sorts of other subjects but yeah that's kind of where where I'm at on my vision board on my goals around relationships she's gonna be fit fun beautiful confident clever loving generous

14:50 It sounds like quite a long list right but I think they're more values than necessarily who someone is or who someone isn't. If you're going into relationship with those kind of values then certainly if that's what i would be looking to give in a relationship, but she's gonna have to be fit anyway because Having been in relationships before with people who weren't interested in fitness, it is awkward. It's difficult to be one person who is and one person who isn't so I think there's probably that and a couple of other things are deal breakers no drama, we're not having any drama. So this comes back to focus actually if you're talking about your vision board and your goals being really clear about what you want out of someone out of what you want out of the situation at what you want out of a job If you're thinking about starting a new business

CHAPTER 09 / 10 Discussion

Hero Academy and the Eight-Week Life Accelerator

The Hero Academy is a year-long coaching and accountability program featuring an 8-Week Life Accelerator. The vision for the academy originated during a blizzard in the Austrian mountains following a difficult breakup. The program provides a training library with modules from various experts covering the F5 categories of fitness, focus, family, finance, and fun.

hero academy· life accelerator· coaching· austrian mountains· training library

15:43 How do you want it to work? What's what's it going to bring to yourself and your family, into your lifestyle. If you're not clear about these things how can you adjust the situation how can you be straight with someone if they're not clear in their own mind about what you want. These are really important things is where focus comes from so The Dad Cools Being Covered, the Hero Academy. You can start to pre-register for that as of next week so if you're a dad who wants to literally have the best year of his life and not just the best year in his life but create the best life ever because that is what Team Superdaddy's all about and the F5 Fitness, Focus, Family, Finance and Fun. Then inside of the Team Superdad Hero Academy there's the 8 Week Life Accelerator which in itself is a complete program which some people just do that and kind of leave it at that really but your participation in The Hero Academy lasts for the whole year. The coaching, the accountability, the buddy calls, the face to face events when we can do those

16:42 And the training library, the training library with modules on everything from inside the F5. From the different coaches and experts that I know that are in my network as you've heard my backstory. The vision for Team Superdab was all came from a walk, climb, a blizzard in the Austrian mountains And all I could think about was how am i going to fix this, how am I gonna fix this and it wasn't about. How am I gonna get off this mountain alive? It was how am I gonna fix this breakup that I'm in, this divorce and it was at that point I realized what if all the people that I knew or coaches experts

17:22 Business Associates, Books, Courses that I've been on and met. What if they'd all been given to me for a purpose? And that purpose is Team Superdad! So inside of all this free content, that's great but also inside of the Hero Academy and The Training Library i am fulfilling that vision and...and uh..and that goal basically Back to focus. It's all about focus, so I hope you've enjoyed the Team Superdad wrap-up 21.1 because 21 is in the bin! It's in the garbage man! Hope you've enjoyed this it's The Weeknd...
