About this episode

The Team Superdad community addresses a heavy week of news including the murder of Sarah Everard in the UK and the surge of anti-Asian violence in the United States. These events prompt a shift toward the F5 framework—Focus, Fitness, Finance, Family, and Fun—as a necessary tool for fathers navigating global unrest and personal stress. The conversation transitions from the impact of Trump-era rhetoric to the immediate relief of a narrow escape from a predatory landlord's mandatory rewiring demands.

Property disputes and renovation nightmares take center stage as a Brighton flat project reveals the long-term dangers of unverified tradespeople and condemned electrical work. Beyond the home, the hosts analyze the rise of digital aggression on Twitter and physical confrontations over social distancing, suggesting that lockdown isolation has eroded social consequences. The dialogue connects 1990s rave culture to the decline of UK football hooliganism, asserting that ecstasy culture effectively replaced violence with dance. Additional segments cover World Sleep Day metrics on the Apple Watch, the hidden caffeine content in Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and the biological disadvantages faced by night owls in a 9-to-5 world.

Personal anecdotes provide a lighter touch, featuring a teenage babysitting disaster involving smashed Irish heirloom plates and a friend who strips entirely to use public restrooms. Guests Liz Evenden and Joe Baldwin-Trott are announced for an upcoming deep dive into safety and equality. The wrap-up concludes with streaming reviews of Ted Lasso and The Vikings, alongside a candid reflection on divorce and the realities of relationship endings.

CHAPTER 02 / 19 Discussion

Hot in the 90s, Rachel Riley and Carol Vorderman

A discussion regarding the "Hot in the 90s" segment leads to a comparison between Countdown hosts Carol Vorderman and Rachel Riley. One host expresses a preference for Vorderman due to her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, while the other favors Riley. The conversation shifts into a brief, humorous exchange about physical attributes and personal anecdotes involving family members walking in during awkward conversations.

hot in the 90s· carol vorderman· rachel riley· countdown· strictly come dancing

02:14 Ask us stuff, send us stuff in. You know like we Hot In The 90's is a good one We do have a couple of regular features on the Wrap Up But if you want to send in your hot in the 90's Glenn and I will gladly discuss and debate the merits Of that hot in the 90's Have a look how she's looking now And see if there's any chance that she would consider Glenn or I as a suitable date And don't forget attraction is about being attractive, it's about more than looks. So if you want to do A Hot In The 90s that was about... You know what? This is one sexy brain then and I'm not talking about that weird thing that used to be in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the middle of kind of that uh well I can't even remember what that thing was called but one of the bad guys that wasn't Shredder

02:56 If as long as it's not that because I'm never gonna accept that as being a hot in the 90s but yeah like they don't just have to be physically attractive although you know, iIm never gonna say no to looking at a beautiful lady. Carol Vorderman got it both had both? Carol Vorderman or Rachel Riley? Or Rachel Riley! Which one? You know, yeah Rachel Riley. Gun to the head is Rachel Riley. I mean i would never have said that you could... by the way if anyone doesn't know what we're talking about Countdown! Why would people not know who these people are? There's all over the world you know We're huge on the internet you know. Countdown TV show numbers words clever people and an incredibly attractive

03:39 Super brainy, host-esque woman who crunches the numbers and does magic in her head. And so yeah, Carol Vorderman was the pinup for all those values... The geeky hottie! We weren't going to do hot in the 90s and here we are doing hot in the 90's! And then she retired. I don't know, i'd like to know what that story was but she moved along and by chance they found someone even more attractive and certainly as clever Yeah but Rachel Riley cannot dance! And that matters to me. I would take Carol Vorderman any day of the week over Rachel Riley. Rachel Riley yes she's stunningly beautiful very funny very attractive all that sort of stuff

04:26 Next up, we've got a question from a viewer who's asking if they can see the script of She was in Strictly! Vorderman took part in the second series of... Let me see, while you fill I'm gonna look up Carol Vorderman and Strictly. If anyone could make their own fantasy wet dream up you've just made it! Oh look at that she was great!

05:17 Absolutely superb, even though she was the second celebrity eliminated. But still what we've learned tonight is you can't have everything! Beauty, brain a great rack nice legs quite witty as well both of them very funny. Present company excluded Jonnie I think you've got a great rack. Thank you...I've got like quite little nipples but they do go incredibly hard Okay, brilliant. My daughter's making... What are you making Rose? A cookie dough and Nutella pie. Brilliant! I dare say it will go where all the other cakes end up And she walked in at the perfect point while you were talking about and stroking your own nipples No no but sometimes mates, you know like when they get spinach out of a bath, yeah They've got massive nipples Like portobello mushrooms Yeah

06:14 Yeah, I find it weird. I mean mine are just there and they do a job in terms of just breaking up the chiseled muscle of my pectorals but they're not something i've spent much time looking at to be fair Some blokes think its like a lunar landing site! I have to say something, dude that is massive pair of nipples worth the same Are they more sensitive? What do they say, I don't know. Anyway...I guess it's nothing like pointing something out and making someone feel really uncomfortable I suppose. And that's why you're banned from most of the changing rooms in H&M! It only happened once and it wasn't enough. You fuck one sheep!!

CHAPTER 03 / 19 Discussion

Global Unrest and Anti-Asian Violence in America

The hosts reflect on a heavy week of news, citing the abduction and murder of a woman in the UK and a rise in violence against Asian Americans in the United States. They attribute some of the American tension to rhetoric from the Trump administration. The segment serves as a transition from serious global events to the lighter "pub-style" banter of the podcast.

donald trump· anti-asian rhetoric· united kingdom· sarah everard· social frustration

07:03 So I was putting a running order. If you've seen the show notes, then it will look a lot tidier but in terms of getting the running order ready for tonight my brain is full of stuff and it's been a bit of a crazy week in the UK with... In fact, it's crazy in America not because we got this women versus men thing going on here in the UK after poor situation of woman get abducted and murdered but in America its going off Sort of, you know violence against Asian Americans and basically anti-Chinese sort of rhetoric which no surprise after Mr. Trump's fine job in that front So yeah a lot of frustration and pent up energy going on in the world so I tried to bring some light relief as I prepared the running order for tonight

07:54 And no surprise, as Glenn and I tiptoed through it before pressing live. Loads of banter to talk about! And that is what we do on the Team Superdad Wrap Up. It's like we're in the pub because we're having a laugh so if you want to come on just drop us a line if you've got a nice microphone... That's why Colin's not back on! I'm going to use my phone, is that all right? Him being on was far more right than that attempt at an accent whatever that was. Gin and tonic in a wine glass... That's how uncouth we are! Is that what you're on so so i am using one of my uh my diamond glasses it hasn't got a stem you just kind of put it down and it kind of just sits like that it's really quite nice and i filled it today with some Cardhu gold reserve single malt whiskey

CHAPTER 04 / 19 Discussion

Landlord Dispute and Emergency Electrical Rewiring Relief

A host describes a stressful week after a landlord claimed the entire house needed immediate electrical rewiring, which would require the family to move out and put belongings in storage. After several days of anxiety, a neighbor who is a professional electrician reviewed the report and determined the work was advisory rather than mandatory. This revelation allowed the host to remain in the home, providing significant personal relief.

landlord· electrical report· house rewiring· kent· storage· sparky

08:45 Just because I've had a better end to my day than most of my week. So it's been, it's been... It's been a tough week, I gotta say! Not just the work, but works been good. Doing loads of stuff really busy kicking off multiple projects agreeing commission plans for my team so some good stuff just lots and lots and lots! But I had a call on Wednesday from my landlord saying uh i've just had the electricians report through because some... Electricians came around to do you know standard thing? I thought all they'd do is stick The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Wrap Up, aDatingDad, Comic Relief,

09:31 And then they've told, the report they gave me said yeah I've had a look at it and they've condemned the wiring in one of their loots which is that the garage is leaking from the ceiling. They said no you can't have an electricity out there and we need to rewire every light in the house and they're probably gotta chase all the other wiring as well so gonna have to rip up every floor pull down every ceiling rewired the whole lot and say you're gonna have to work out...you'll have to move out You have to move, pack away. They won't do it with anyone in the house any furniture in the house so what we they're saying you need to is pack up all of your stuff put it in storage they'll spend a couple of weeks doing the electrician's stuff then they don't decorate they don't make good so I would have to get redecoration done and then you can move back in

10:22 So what am I talking about? What am i going to do, it's not just me on my Todd. I've got four kids! I've got a house full of stuff this is a 4 bed house and I've been living here for nine years and every nook and cranny is filled with life stuff um so yeah it was gonna cost... he was gonna have to pick up the tab but it would have cost however many thousands uh to pack it to move it to store um and then to move it all back and recover it. And we had, I've got no idea where we're gonna stay uh with me and the kids for because you can't...I don't know..I live in Kent It's not exactly a tourist hot spot there are no airbnbs that are within walking distance of my kid school so I've spent most of the week really stressed and worried about it hiding it from the kids because I didn't want to tell them because they would have been so anxious but then today

11:16 As I was putting some stuff in the recycling, spoke to my neighbor. He's a sparky! He's come round he said look at the report and he said that's just an advisory actually looking at that there is this C2 thingie and all this now that's fine and actually they've said that that's a problem Look at these regulations regulation say it's absolutely fine That would be fine twice he's gone through it And yes as if it's few things are still need doing But as far as he can see, actually I'm not going to have to move out at all and we can redo it while I'm here. Fuck me! I am buying that man a crate of beer. It's been hellish, hellish so yeah much better end to my week than the start i've gotta say what a relief what a relief JL funny story

CHAPTER 05 / 19 Discussion

Brighton Flat Renovation and Dodgy Electrical Work

An anecdote is shared regarding a past renovation project in Brighton where a plasterer recommended a questionable electrician. Years later, it was discovered that the electrician had performed a "bodge job" using random wires, leading to the work being condemned. The story highlights the risks of hiring unverified tradespeople in the property market.

brighton· flat renovation· plasterer· sparky· electrical bodge

12:09 I had it when i bought my flat in Brighton. First time I'd ever done a project like that and the plasterer, top job excellent bloke knew him from a friend and so he says to me oh I know as Barkie you'll come up come and do that So this random... You know when you meet someone you think ah this isn't good but I just kind of trusted that the plasterer knew him We met in a pub and he's showing me through this brochure, and he's got his mate with him. He's what do they call them? His little helper? Yeah yeah mate! Oh yes it's Sparky's mate. And the mate didn't clearly have any clue what was going on and then showed me through this brochure like...

12:57 The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Wrap Up, aDatingDad, Comic Relief, But it was a saga and then about two years later, it transpired that he'd done a complete bodge job and used random bits of wire. And just like you say condemned! And I found...I actually legitimately found a dodgy bloke who said, I will sign off but I won't put my name on it. Oh God

CHAPTER 06 / 19 Discussion

Social Media Aggression and Keyboard Warrior Culture

The hosts discuss a perceived increase in online aggression and verbal abuse on platforms like Twitter. They suggest that prolonged isolation during lockdown has caused people to forget the social consequences of being rude or "arsey." The conversation posits that the anonymity of the internet emboldens individuals to say things they would never say in person.

twitter· social media abuse· lockdown· anonymity· keyboard warriors

14:40 He's just moved in and they've put a planning application in for double height extension so yeah I think you want it also want to keep me sweet so I don't object to it. Oh yes, oh no it's all coming together now that was good well people connecting during this tricky time. I fear everyone is kind of going to start warring with each other but that's a relief That is what it's been recently, hasn't it? I've had loads more abuse. It seems to be ramping up on the abuse that I've had for various different things like there was this bunch of people in Surrey who basically gathered in a park and did loads of like hook play... not just talking two or three families but about 50-60 families got together doing the hokey cokey and all this stuff together in this enclosed space

15:36 The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Wrap Up, aDatingDad, Comic Relief, of if they want to do this then all they're going to do is put, if one person had COVID there then they're gonna spread it around and the cases are gonna rise and we could end up back in lockdown with this sort of thing. If everyone did this... And the abuse I got! The shit I've been getting all week for this on Twitter

16:14 For that and other things as well, people have just been so much more aggressive. And I think it's because we've been away from human contact for so long that people have forgotten if you say something arsey and your absolute dick, you'll probably get a smack! And they've forgotten that because they're all doing it via their keyboards now. They've forgotten the impact that things have and every person behind a Twitter account is a real person, and that distance has created this anonymity where people think they can get away with saying what they want to who they want when they want and there's no consequences to it. I'm hoping as we release ourselves from lockdown people might just start getting back to a world where they realise that they shouldn't be such a dick

CHAPTER 07 / 19 Discussion

Social Distancing Confrontations and Post-Lockdown Social Anxiety

A host recounts a confrontation outside a school where a woman shouted at a group of parents for not social distancing, despite being outdoors in the sunshine. The woman claimed to have received both vaccine doses while remaining aggressive. The hosts speculate on whether society will face a permanent divide between those ready to return to normal and those who remain fearful and "cold" after the pandemic.

social distancing· vaccination· school run· public confrontation· psychology

16:59 Yeah, well... Will they just end up fighting? Lamping each other. This lady outside the school today, there's about six different parents me and five other different parents so we're kind of scattered and chatting whilst our kids play right So...so where we're talking in the sunshine it was lovely right so then we were on the pavement a woman is walking up towards us she's approaching us and she basically shouts in this gnarky tone Get out the way! Social distancing. So I said, you know, I said, I said, You could just say excuse me like this is fine in sunshine and everyone's happy. She starts absolutely ranting at us about social distancing and then she says, Oh, that both my jabs. I've had both my jabs. I don't think anyone has had both their jabs. Well, she was...she wasn't that young but

17:57 But but you know, so I just said well look have a lovely day and hope that you are live long and prosper with your Jax. So she carried on but this is my fear actually. I thought to myself there's going to be this divide afterwards where people kind of done with it and happy and they got their vaccine and they're pretty chilled out about it And this other group the population who are gonna carry on jumping out the way being really cold and frosty I don't know, i hope not. Is it going to be weird? I think you know... It's gonna take a while to settle back in. For several months and so on it's gonna take some people a lot of time to get back into things but I am never gonna underestimate the ability for people to forget the bad times

18:44 We forget lessons and the good and the bad. People in general, when we're talking about big groups of people are stupid! We forget things and we just devolve to the meme The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Wrap Up, aDatingDad, Comic Relief, The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Wrap Up, aDatingDad, Comic Relief,

CHAPTER 08 / 19 Discussion

1990s Rave Culture and the Decline of Football Hooliganism

The discussion turns to the early 1990s, specifically the era of legal raves and the implementation of poll tax laws. A claim is made that the rise of ecstasy culture in 1990-91 was the primary factor in ending UK football hooliganism, as fans shifted from drinking and fighting to dancing. The hosts debate whether this was a genuine cultural shift or a result of wider socioeconomic issues.

1990s· poll tax· legal raves· ecstasy· football hooliganism

19:35 There was so much freedom then really until they flipping brought in the poll tax laws and shut down all the legal raves and stuff like that. We really were just bobbing around having a nice time, you know that 1990-91 it's well known that it brought to an end all the hooliganism in football because instead of drinking beer and fighting they were doing pills and dancing Yeah, that's what it is. It was nothing to do with wider socioeconomic issues. It was nothing to do with global capitalism overtaking...it was nothing to do with so much in the way of geopolitics! It was all to do with ecstasy

20:15 I think it was Glyn. And that says more about your activities in the 90s than it does about anything else, doesn't it? I'm like that sounds interesting tell me more about my historical evidence as I know nothing at all! Well very interesting we'll come back to that or maybe you've got a couple of books on this subject yeah links will be in the show notes Well something else you told me you found out about today, I noticed it was World Sleep Day. A big fan of sleep! Oh links nicely into to my new watch as well which i see you also... New watch? I do indeed, I got mine for my birthday and because yeah but I'm dialed in on a Mac at the moment, I've got an iPad here iPhone in my pocket because it's all part of an ecosystem It works perfectly as a companion piece, it's brilliant now

CHAPTER 09 / 19 Discussion

World Sleep Day and Apple Watch Fitness Tracking

In honor of World Sleep Day, the hosts discuss their transition from Fitbit devices to the Apple Watch ecosystem. They compare sleep tracking data, noting discrepancies in how different apps calculate time in bed versus actual sleep time. One host describes the learning curve of navigating new metrics like heart rate and calorie burn on a different interface.

world sleep day· apple watch· fitbit· sleep tracking· ecosystem

21:10 I probably wouldn't have bought it if i didn't have the whole Apple set because It doesn't work quite as well. It would be a bit weird to have this and some sort of Android, how about you? Well I've had a Fitbit for five years and I loved it! It was part of my fitness... not transformation, I've always been fit but it kind of cranked up the next level tracking everything and sleep tracking my sleep I'd love to see how long i've slept for and what, weirdly. I checked mine this morning yeah check my this morning um my average time in bed let me i'm gonna get it out because i want to get the sums right because i don't want to actually be exaggerating on this so you have your sleep targets and so on my average time in bed according to my apple watch is five hours and 48 minutes yet my average time of sleep is seven hours and three minutes

22:04 I don't quite understand... Sleep apps, as Glenn is alluding to I'm also very interested in and seeing how long i've actually slept for. So if was on Fitbit now on Apple Watch because my fit bit sort of died it was sort of a convenient excuse to get another watch as well. Glenn's still frozen maybe I've frozen we'll have a little see um bear with me a second whilst we just

22:51 See if we can... oh Glenn's gone. Now I'm on my own, now i really am feeling so it was what I will tell you about swapping watches a bit like anything oh he's back now look fucking fucking shh keep staying wank of a connection ah all right Jonnie hows the Tourette's? How is the Tourette this week I'm The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Wrap Up, aDatingDad, Comic Relief,

24:01 I had the whole box and everything, okay. So it had nothing to do with me where it came from. I bought in proper good faith but yes so but I turned it on and downloaded all the apps off my phone. The battery went flat about two hours so I had to go in and start clearing it clearing all off but in terms of the tracking I Heart rate, calories sleep. Right? So it's all just kind of because there's a lot less to see on the Fitbit It's just all just kind of there so now I've been trying to learn where all this stuff can be found Steps, Calories Yeah heart rate its all them and you just got zoom in bit its gotta work out which is which Its fine

CHAPTER 10 / 19 Discussion

Sleep Hygiene, Mouth Taping, and Caffeine in Ice Cream

A host shares insights from a corporate sleep expert session, covering topics such as mouth taping to prevent snoring and the importance of evening routines. A surprising fact is discussed regarding caffeine content in chocolate-based ice creams like Ben & Jerry's, leading to a debate on whether ice cream should be avoided after 2:00 PM to ensure better sleep quality.

sleep expert· mouth taping· snoring· caffeine· ben & jerry's

25:03 I I work for an amazing company. I bloody love my company and today they brought in an actual sleep expert to do an hour long session over lunch teaching us about sleep, about breathing, about routines you should be getting yourself into and how you can do better sleep. And they said look these are all just options these are things that you can do if you choose not to do them then that's your choice that's our life choice but we're going to give you information so that you can actually make that choice yourself

25:48 And they did things like some things, they would say I'm never gonna do but they said like if you sleep with your mouth open then firstly You're gonna snore more secondly your dehydrate better and all this so get this tape get some tape Tape your mouth up under the chin and it means you age less as well apparently So somebody's was a little bit a little bit out there But then other things The normal stuff of don't have your phone on when you're going to bed. Me, I'm sure especially after drinks, I definitely do I know i do. I don't snore, I wish I didn't! I would have surgery if it meant I didn't snore but what can you do? I can't do anything about it The odd occasion I've snored...I've woken myself up and I'm like I'm not doing that because my dad snores like a bear he snores so bad when we go to hotels He purposely books a room down the corridor away from us out of decency Of course no comment

26:49 The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Wrap Up, aDatingDad, Comic Relief, aDatingDad, You know, what can I do? And then you lay in there thinking is she asleep yet? Is she asleep yet and then i get poked in the ribs when I fell asleep again. No! I haven't gone to sleep yet but yeah... Yeah that did not last. That's it. I've added it to my list of dream woman very deep sleeper um but one of the things I didn't really choose near the caffeine thing I can understand not having a four double espressos at nine o'clock at night I couldn't get that

27:32 But she was saying you shouldn't drink, not drink, you shouldn't have caffeine after 2pm. Yes! And that includes not just coffee and tea ice cream. Ice cream? Oh, ice cream! Ice creams got caffeine in it who knew?! How the fuck does caffeine get into ice cream and if thats true Then are you only, are you meant to have ice cream only with breakfast and lunch? Is that a lunch thing because ice cream for me is an evening kind of after dinner thing or when you're out about on a hot day. The amount of caffeine in a flippin what they call those... A 99! Yeah anything like I know the ones where my kids... Ben & Jerry's yeah exactly the tubs yeah the tubs. Caffeine, I guess if it's got chocolate it has got caffeine

CHAPTER 11 / 19 Discussion

Bedroom Tidiness, Circadian Rhythms, and Larks versus Owls

The conversation explores the link between a tidy bedroom environment and mental health during REM sleep. The hosts discuss circadian rhythms and the biological differences between "larks" (early risers) and "owls" (night people). One host expresses frustration that the modern 9-to-5 work world is built for larks, forcing owls to operate against their natural genetic sleep patterns.

feng shui· rem sleep· circadian rhythms· insomnia· sleep cycles

28:19 Okay, what about messy bedrooms? Boudoir versus... Oh yeah that's a big big no-no. It's a huge huge issue you have to have a tidy room it's a mental health thing which then allows your brain to sort itself when it's in REM sleep then if you've got a messy room your brain doesn't switch off in the same way. It's going into it! You're going fucking mess! I do understand what they mean because if i've got my room and it is a bit messy, I've got kids birthday presents stored off in one corner and like the washing to be done and then the clothes are taken off thrown on the floor or whatever.

29:05 The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Wrap Up, aDatingDad, Comic Relief, It's a feng shui, it's icky guy. It's the kind of making your environment... The phrase icky guy has been mentioned in my bedroom more than once! Shut a lisp! So that's flipping amazing. I saw it trending on Twitter today, World Sleep Day. Sleep is fascinating so as well as our watches and sleep tracking check out Karkadian Rhythms if you're listening if your into sleep. Oh yeah think I've mentioned this before one of my significant relationships she had insomnia and so I decided to fix her which didn't go down well but in the process me deciding I was going to fix her I learned a load stuff about insomnia

30:08 Carcadian rhythms, fascinating. You go through cycles so you want to go to bed at the right time because if you go to bed on an up part of the cycle that's ridiculous! You're just gonna struggle to get to sleep and the same when you wake up...you want to wake up on a up part of the cycle because then you know literally won't be groggy and if your upside starts at 6 o'clock and your down cycle is kind of 645 if you get up at six o'clock you'll be better refreshed than you will be at 645 Oh it's mad innit. But they also, they were saying the world is built for... They call them larks and owls so a lark is someone who will go to bed at 10pm wake up at 6am generally with issues but you know they'll go bed earlier wake up earlier an owl... Go on then Rosie. The charge of like putting things in is going like ee ee ee ee. Okay just unplug it yeah go on sorry Glenn yep because

31:00 I'm Without any hesitation, I will comfortably go to bed about 1am and then wake up about 8. That gets me 7 and half hours of sleep! All is good all is right with the world yet the world is built in a way that means I actually have to try and force myself to get out earlier or accept I've got less sleep because I've gotta get up early in order to get into an office for 9 am it's crap

31:45 Well, your Carcadian rhythm. Your one o'clockage will be actually around 10 so if you want to catch that right of course you're going to miss out on those two and a half three hours in the evening but I bet you know... No, no, only if you are luck! If you're a nark, your circadian rhythm starts at 10am. Your sleep time is at 10am and then you're up earlier but me because I'm an owl actually that's just shifted by several hours and it's a genetically forced thing You can try to change it a little bit but for me there's no amount of training in something like this where I will always naturally revert to going into bed later or waking up later That's just the natural rhythm

CHAPTER 12 / 19 Discussion

Comic Relief Criticism and the Evolution of British Comedy

The hosts critique the current format of Comic Relief, arguing that the broadcast has become too focused on "sad children" and guilt-based appeals rather than the comedy that defined its early years. While they acknowledge that British stand-up comedy is currently in a "rich vein," they feel the televised event is outdated. Suggestions are made to modernize the fundraiser using TikTok or NFTs.

32:25 The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Wrap Up, aDatingDad, Comic Relief, I'm actually wearing red today. I wear my, this is my the office US Office Scranton Dunder Mifflin t-shirt because it's red so i've had to wear some red today for Comic Relief but I'll be honest

33:10 I know nostalgia is not as good as it used to be, but neither are telephones. Telephones used to be here's a big chunk of content so for Comic Relief it was here's loads and loads of funny stuff and then every now and then Lenny Henry will pop up this is just my memory about that if it was really like that The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Wrap Up, aDatingDad, Comic Relief, Whereas now it seems to be, here's sad children. Here's sad children. Here's sad children. Here's sad children. Here's presenters... Here's a joke! Oh and here is a little bit of funny. No here is more sad children. Here are more bad things. Here is why you need to donate

33:56 Here's something we're going to have funny that is later on in the show. Here's more of Satch! It's just fucking boring, I'm not gonna watch it. I'm gonna wait until the YouTube highlights come out. Yeah maybe there aren't as many funny people around? Maybe there's you know... The rich vein of British comedians maybe it's a little bit thin on the ground? No, no, it has never been deeper. Never been deeper. Stand-up comedy in this country It's booming and because at the moment as well, I mean you need an edge. In order to have edgy comedy you need center lines so you've got your Michael McIntyre yeah your Kevin Bridges and um you know and your uh Sarah Milligans and all the kind of standard things that almost everyone they look at and think oh yeah he's funny and then you've got your new wave your edgy comedy of so many different types and sizes it is British comedies at its peak

34:48 Yet they're still rolling out Lenny Henry. Yeah, Lenny's the anchor tonight I think! He's been around for a while and he is part of it, he is an institution but you know there are so many more funnier people out there these days that they... The whole thing should be about comedy. I should be wanting to watch it And by doing that, I don't want to watch it because i know that almost all of it is going to be trying to tug on heartstrings. Yeah yeah and I think back in the day you know the idea we're gonna stay up all night and there's gonna be people ringing on phones and none of the technology is gonna mean that we can work out how much money's coming in and it's going to be exciting

35:37 Technology's caught up to, technology is so far ahead of us. Just like yeah how much Bitcoin is that mate? What does that say here 10 million you've raised how much in there and bitcoin yeah I feel like they should find a way of doing this on TikTok. I don't know how, I don't know what but if they can't do this via TikTok then they're missing the wave Yeah or just do it on one NFT Just a mutantly good NFT. Right, Comic Relief is going to be on for 10 minutes this year. We've put all the content in this one NFT and it's a billion pounds! What are NFTs anyway?

CHAPTER 13 / 19 Discussion

Feminism, Equality, and the Sarah Everard Case

Following the Sarah Everard tragedy, the hosts announce a special Monday night discussion featuring guests Liz Evenden and Joe Baldwin-Trott. They define feminism as a pursuit of basic equality in both pay and domestic roles. The segment emphasizes the importance of men listening to women's experiences regarding safety and "unknown unknowns" that men rarely have to consider.

feminism· sarah everard· equality· gender roles· team superdad

36:20 I mean, i can tell you but... Yeah it's a bit like the ecstasy in the 90s story. Don't really bother me man! It's brilliant and there is loads of money yeah it's gonna be good well look rather more seriously we are just on this subject of news and things we've scheduled on Monday night this is kind of a message for listeners and watchers we have scheduled on Monday night Glenn and I Off the back of the sad Sarah Everard story and the wave of sentiment, news and comment around men and women and sort of attitudes and sexual abuse. And just like a whole... this is just a mess quite frankly so much commentary going on and I'm thankful to know some

37:10 Pretty awesome women who are both intelligent, successful, opinionated. And you know I think you put a post out this week Glen about if anyone's not a feminist and they're a twat or something basically? They are! I stand by that and again i got some abuse from that from a few people saying Virtue Sigling and feminists are crap and they're offended Mate, you don't understand feminism. If you think that women want more than men... if you think the feminists want women to be above man and for men to back down or something like that You don't know what feminism is because feminism is just about equality And that's both the good things and the bad things For me, feminism is every bit as much of eliminating the pink jobs in the blue jobs in the house As it is about equal pay and equal rights It's just about equality and if you can't wrap your head around that then you're a dickhead

38:06 Well, no and it's great that we're having this conversation on the Wrap Up and on the Team Superdad podcast because as a dad who had to go through child court and a lot of stuff and muck being flung. I could be quite easily triggered about some subjects then I have to catch myself because that's not my intent at all But I think inside of some people, they're so caught up in their story that they're unable to appreciate the millions let alone billions of other stories that there are out there. So i'm really looking forward to this conversation yourself and I are going to be on there Liz Evenden and Joe Baldwin-Trott are going to be joining us

38:56 Two cool women, two attractive women as well actually. Very intelligent, funny... It's not going to be a boring conversation I think i'm really looking forward to it being a fresh conversation you know where I've got questions to ask and I want to hear about is it scary being a woman? What's the... you know, that's pretty much where I want to start. You know like get that out in the open like and it's about being honest because there's going to be questions that guys

39:36 I'll be honest, like i've got a pretty good imagination and you know what? I've supported various different forums for various demographics that I'm not part of. So in various councils I have been facilitating LGBT forums, ethnic diversity or BAME forums and so on but But I'm never going to fully appreciate everything that those demographics and groups go for, because I'm a straight middle-class middle aged white able bodied man. So no matter how much I can imagine it's...I'm never going to experience that. And so to speak to women and just get them to share some of the things because I think a lot guys we don't...they're unknown unknowns

40:26 Like you and I, if we were walking down the street at night. If it's a random thing we'd look around and at most We'll be looking thinking who is going to attack me try mugged me? At worst try and stab me Yeah! I bet you've never had the thought in my head fuck there is guy over there who is gonna try rape me yeah that's another level It just... The things that never run through our heads so its gonna really interesting Frankly sometimes i'm sure it's gonna be a little uncomfortable as men to be hearing this and to be, is going to be really challenging for me to sit there and remind myself. It doesn't matter that he's not made does marriage not about me this is about many in general and I am a man and its not she's not saying i'm gonna do these things are i think in these things but she is saying the men like me

41:24 Will do these things and she doesn't know, not she as it's not individuals but women don't know what's what in terms of who is right and whose wrong. Who is going to win whatever so its gonna be really challenging for me to just accept Just shut up and listen man Ask some questions That is the bottom line And we did last year if you want go back and listen to a couple podcasts We did with Errol and Tony Two black friends of mine Pastors In churches And we just had a straight conversation about something I've known these guys 15 years, 20 years and there's things you just never ask. And it's like okay well let's do this is asked the things that haven't been asked so we're going to do that on Monday night. So yeah if you go over

42:11 Just any of the Team Superdad socials, there's mentions of it. If you go to teamsuperdad.com forward slash network, you can sign up there for the network and we'll be sending updates when the event is. But basically its on Monday which is Monday 22nd and its at Sponsors, I hope you notice as i was pouring my whiskey the label was forward so I'm very much open to sponsor opportunities and you can see that placement is natural.

CHAPTER 14 / 19 Discussion

Teenage Drinking Anecdote and the Irish China Disaster

A host shares a story from 1990 involving a teenage drinking session while babysitting. The night ended in disaster when a drunk friend accidentally smashed a collection of heirloom Irish plates that had been in the family for three generations. The incident resulted in a cold-bath sobering attempt, a ripped-out wall lamp, and the police being called to the house.

whiskey· chicago house· babysitting· irish china· police

43:02 Exactly. And I can say, Glen that looks like a nice fine single malt whiskey there. Oh this is a wonderful single malt. I don't know if i showed it earlier but this is Ocado Gold Reserve very very very nice and perfect way to end a stressful week I got given a bunch of whisky. I've never been a whiskey drinker, right? I'm never really much of a drinker, right? One of my first times I ever got drunk was when my dad and step mum went to a school play and one of our best mates Matt came over

43:43 I've got an album which was some kind of import of Chicago house. Okay, 90 literally was 1990 and Matt came round and we were babysitting riffing on social services on me. We were babies like 14 15 and we decided to have a lot of little shots of stuff and then it got a bit carried away so we're doing like I'm

44:27 So shortly after that he was absolutely paralytic. Then he said, I'm going to cycle home so i said no you're not gonna cycle home! I called his mum and I said Lynn something's happened Matt went to the toilet and uh and he's come back drunk Matt's mum and dad, Lynne and Pete. Pretty straight laced, pretty straight laced fine upstanding members of the community If you'd have said that to my dad, he would've called you a dickhead and sent you to bed with the coffee. But as it was... So I know like I got about 10 minutes, so I gotta try and sober Matt up. So I try and maneuver him up the stairs in like a fireman situation. And I get him up to the top court. Sod's Law our bathroom is on the third floor. It's like an old Victorian house right? So I get him under wall. My step mum has a set of

45:31 Irish plates handed down through three generations of her family. He wipes them out completely, the whole lot. Irish China boom 200 years in a pile clearly should have put them in a display cabinet but that's another subject So I run a cold bath, this is the best bit. You know when you've got those pictures in your mind of something that's happened? The picture of my mate Matt's face as i tossed him into a bath of cold water because at 14 your minds like cold shower, cold shower so I go and throw him in like a washed up walrus. Cold shower! And he goes... He takes a big gasp and he's shouting, fuck, fuck

46:17 So now he's awake, right? So now he's awake. So I get him back out of the bath, get back out of the bath, ruff him down with a towel put his clothes back on as we go back down the stairs...I managed to get him down in the first flight but he swings like wildly as we go down the second one stumbles down the stairs Grabs hold of a lamp that's hanging out the wall to stop his fall, rips that out of the wall and now he's laying at the bottom of stairs with the lamp in his hand and laughing. So his mum in her infinite wisdom decides that he needs to go to hospital so she takes him to the hospital seeing I'm home alone she calls the police

47:03 So then my dad comes home about 20 minutes later or whatever, the house is full of police. I'm standing in the kitchen throwing up in the sink and a policewoman's holding my little baby brother! I'm guessing you didn't do much babysitting after that? Oh very poor... what's that thing where an actor goes end scene? That's amazing. Yeah, really bad. Matt got grounded for like ever and thankfully I didn't too much my dad wasn't really into grounding as a punishment but no surprisingly i was put off booze for quite a while after that. See I know my kids... so I don't know what your thing is about kids drinking but

CHAPTER 15 / 19 Discussion

Parenting Perspectives on Alcohol and Household Rules

Reflecting on the previous drinking story, the hosts discuss their personal rules for their children regarding alcohol. One host mentions allowing older children to have a cider or a glass of wine with dinner but strictly forbidding spirits. The goal is to demystify alcohol while maintaining enough "fear of God" to prevent the destruction of household property.

parenting· alcohol· cider· spirits· discipline

47:56 I won't say, let my kids drink because that sounds too much but if of an evening they say that can i have a cider? Have a cider, you know what like little can of Copperberg or something. Or they'll say can I have a glass of wine when we're having dinner? Yeah pour your glass of wine and so on...I won't let them have spirits until they're a bit older but if i'm pouring myself whiskey i'll let them smell it and the smell alone is enough to kind of put them off but I have to do this because I've got..I don't know if you can see I don't know if I've shown this The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Wrap Up, aDatingDad, Comic Relief,

48:47 How much of that are they going to get through? So I've got to basically put the fear of f***ing God into them, this is not gonna happen. You are not doing this otherwise you're in deep trouble! Otherwise... Basically i don't want my Irish China smashed! Oh man Can you imagine there's no coming back from that? No. Very, very... It just had to go down as one of those things but um but no the poor woman yeah definitely Imagine what those plates have been through only to be totaled by two modern age twats! Oh that is an epic story I love it

CHAPTER 16 / 19 Discussion

Eccentric Friends and Unusual Pub Habits

The hosts exchange stories about eccentric friends, including one who always finds a hidden can of lager at the end of the night and another who reportedly cannot use a public restroom without removing all his clothes. They debate the "mental" nature of such habits while acknowledging the unique personalities found in their social circles.

drinking habits· jack daniels· pub toilets· social behavior· nudity

49:26 Matt's one of those mates, right? I don't know if you've got a mate like this. If you...I have a drinking limit! There is a point in the night where it was like oh no, I'm gonna have to have a bit, I can't drink any more beer, I'll have a black Jack Daniels. In fact, no, I've had enough to drink, I can't. No, in fact, give us a lemonade or a bottle of water or something because I need to sober up now. Matt is one of those mates that when you get in the taxi at some random point of the night eventually going home he will pull out a can of lager and What on earth is that? Where on earth did you find a can of lava in your pocket?" He's like, I have no idea. He genuinely doesn't but suffice to say he's having when you couldn't think another drop could be drunk... ...he's having another can of lava! If it's not lava and beer that's me i'm i can drink non-beer Beer just takes up too much fucking space um but i've got a mate called Dan

50:23 The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Wrap Up, aDatingDad, Comic Relief, Yeah, I thought so. Someone's ripped the hand dryer off the wall and it'll just be dead! And you just knew yeah that was probably Dan wasn't it? There was no reason to it! You know it's bad but there is nothing you can do about it. The challenge was he was also the guy who used to...I don't know if I've mentioned this on the show before He could never shit with his clothes on

51:11 Okay, good. So yeah he would if we're out on an all day one you knew that if he was having a dump in the toilet it was naked at that moment and you just had to pray that he was sober enough that he would put his clothes back on before coming out of the toilet That's gold. There are a few people around who have that, I guess it is some kind of either really chilled outlook on life or an affliction. It is better these days much better these days hi Dan! Hi Dan good to have you on board if you want to meet me also get undressed and have a crap in public um...I do know someone so I'll introduce you two can compare notes

51:56 Yeah, Gina. Maybe I should try it! Hang on a minute we're knocking it... Have you ever stripped off and had a dump in a pub toilet? In a pub toilet?! No no because that's f***ing weird It is weird! There are just two ways about it that's mental. I'll probably go with the disabled one though there's more space Oh look my daughter has made the Nutella and what cake? Oreo pie Wow Before we move too further on, a quick what to watch

CHAPTER 17 / 19 Discussion

Streaming Recommendations, Ted Lasso, and The Vikings

The hosts review their current watch lists, highlighting Ted Lasso on Apple TV+ as a highly recommended comedy. Another host discusses progress through the first season of The Vikings on Amazon Prime, describing it as "good enough" for current viewing needs. They lament the overwhelming number of streaming subscriptions currently available.

ted lasso· apple tv plus· the vikings· amazon prime· streaming services

52:42 I saw Ted Lasso this week. Have you ever seen that? Yeah, and I've got Apple Plus and i said to people online what the point of Apple TV or whatever it is... And that was about the only show they said you know what that's probably a good one to try! Very funny, It is very funny Well I'll give it a watch. I've just started a series myself on Prime, The Vikings It's fighting, shagging and eating meat. Yeah it's alright! It's not quite Game of Thrones but I'm sort of two-thirds away through series one and it is good

53:23 I won't say it's great, it's good and that at the moment is enough. At the moment I rate my TV shows as they same as I do with women. Good is good enough! But yeah, I'll definitely happily watch a bit of Ted Lasso at some point. Just so that i can make the most of using this Apple TV because there's so many bloody streaming channels and I've got them all except for BT and I just don't use them enough! So I've got to find somethings to watch on them Well... well I can't say I'm your man. I'm your man for comedy based irreverent occasional series and stuff yep yep

CHAPTER 18 / 19 Discussion

Relationship History, Infidelity, and Threesome Theories

A host candidly discusses his divorce and his ex-wife's infidelity, which occurred at a Premier Inn. This leads to a broader conversation about relationship endings and masculine identity. The segment concludes with a humorous debate about the reality of threesomes versus their portrayal in media, with the hosts agreeing that "fun" should be the ultimate goal of any experience.

divorce· infidelity· premier inn· relationship advice· sexual health

54:11 We actually sneaked in a hot in the 90s which we weren't gonna, didn't have planned. One thing we're going to start doing and I don't think I've told you about it because I like to have a little regularity when we're stuck for something that gives us time to come back to also people likes things that are regularly I I'm

55:16 Well back then yeah you would have because that's... If you're gonna pop your cherry then let's do it nicely, let's not feel uncomfortable about someone coming in. Let's be classy! You know if Alan Partridge was going to pop his cherry it would have been at a Holiday Inn. Pop your cherry then come on! At home? Yeah she came and stayed over That's easy. It was a mad time in my life, I didn't really have a home... well i did but just my dad was struggling financially we were living in a pub that we were renovating and basically it was derelict nights I wasn't staying there I was staying at friends houses so the holiday inn was a pretty good shout

56:09 Hey, there are worse places let's be honest. You know what? We had an argument about breakfast she said I'm not going to breakfast it's embarrassing and i was just like embarrassing you cheeky bitch! Halfway breakfast um and we just had sex so what are you talking about I won't go into detail because this is not the time and place. Is it? No, not like that. Scandalous! Slander! There's no way slander because you can't be... You can't be slander if it's true. Uh, my-you'll know that I'm divorced uh because my ex wife had an affair with a teenage boy and she popped his cherry in a premier inn in Maidstone so I've got...I've got a slight aversion to a chain hotel

57:14 I'm open about that, okay? That's your counselling. It's a trigger! Did you say virginity? Premiering... it's over here! Back down back down oh man and how'd you know it was his virginity or is that just part of the story yeah she she was quite open about that Like Lucy in Brockmire. It was a period of my life I don't wish to repeat

57:50 Oh man, a mate of mine his girlfriend came out after three years of them being in relationship and it took him about six years to get over it. His whole masculine identity was just destroyed by the fact that... I would have been fine with that! That would have been great you know if my ex had left me for a woman because I can't be a woman so that's okay If she'd have left me for a rich man, that's fine because I'm not going to be... if she had left me for a good-looking man. Fine! But no anyway there's a whole world of episodes there just in and of itself okay uh well i guess if you're gonna get dumped what she could have done the lesbian friend she could have done like she could have brought her mate over they could have had a threesome and in the morning it could have been like a sting in the tail which was

58:44 I hope you had fun, but just so you know me and Sally are off. You do realise that lesbians aren't always bisexual as well yeah? So Sally might have not liked the cock! Well i don't suppose either of them would have... But um.. In an ideal world it would have been a wonderful parting gift That's what im saying, a parting gift It could've softened the blow for Dave It could've really helped him out Because thats the thing everyone goes on This is one of my annoyances, everyone who's ever kind of had a threesome goes oh it's not as much fun as you think and it's not as good... F*** you! I want to find that out for myself.

59:27 You know, I'm happy disappointing two women because one...I'll be able to prove it and test the theory. Because they can't be that bad otherwise porn would have a whole...it wouldn't be quite the same. Your worst nightmare is they're having more fun without you! That's fine. You go crazy ladies I'll just sit on the sofa and I'm good with this. You just go to town, I'll check Twitter it's fine! That is a fair point actually As long as everyone is having fun that all it needs to be. Which brings us back to the top of the show Glenn perfectly talking we came in with fun and we've gone out with fun that is beautiful end to this week's wrap up Isn't that one your 5 F's? It is, its the best one, it's the end one whatever happens ends with fun

CHAPTER 19 / 19 Discussion

Comic Relief Outro and Team Superdad Sign-off

The hosts wrap up the episode by mentioning their plans to watch the Comic Relief highlights. They make lighthearted references to Michael Barrymore and James Corden before directing listeners to the Team Superdad website. The show concludes with a call to subscribe, leave reviews, and join the community to create a better life for fathers and children.
