April 19 Tank Assault, CS Gas, Ferret Rounds

On the final day of the siege, Combat Engineering Vehicles (CEVs) penetrated the walls of Mount Carmel to inject CS gas, which is banned by the Geneva Convention for warfare. Agents fired approximately 300 ferret rounds into the building while claiming over loudspeakers that they were not conducting an assault. The tanks demolished structural sections, including the chapel and foyer, while spraying gas at point-blank range into areas where women and children were sheltering.
