Mr Mark Ormrod, you may well have seen him particularly if you're in the UK although saying that his recent He tells me in our conversation that he's video the one where he falls over and he's blades Has now reached 7 million views on YouTube So the likelihood is that there are definitely a lot of people around the world who are now familiar with mark so why is he
02 So well known, why is he so popular? Why is he's so out there. I think it's just because he's so real you know like I said in the intro He's a dad, he's a husband, he's a bloke You know he talks about his mates and as a former soldier Former commando in the US sorry in the UK Army There's obviously a lot of squaddy bloke banter that goes on there as well And that's part being real And
51 And I'm going to start with a question that's been asked quite often by people who have I'm so grateful for him to come on the podcast and share that story with us all because we have life-changing decisions to make most days, most weeks. You know whether it's to move out whether it is to take a job or change your job start a business ask someone to marry you decide that its not working out and your going leave them have a kid not have a kid
39 Life-changing decisions are all around us. But what happens when that choice, when that decision is actually made for you such as it was for Mark? We... we what?! We still have two choices sink or swim and Mark has chosen to get up off of that hospital bed when he was told he would never walk again without the aid of a wheelchair You know, he'd never walk again He would never move without the aid of a wheelchair. He was having none of it and There are some documentaries out there of his rehabilitation and he talks about that a little bit.
18 In particular about when he was in America and they were not quite as generous as the UK medical teams, in making him basically get off his ass and learn how to use his prosthetics. So that so that the metaphor there for us all in our own life is what what life-changing moment are we gonna face where we're going to get up off our arse and say I'm not gonna let this define me! I'm gonna go out there and create And as you'll hear, Mark shares about how the more he pushes on the more he leans into this and I don't mean Gary V kind of hustle hustle hustle. Just... He's up to stuff! He's like what do you mean we're gonna run 5k? Okay yeah go for it What do you mean we're gonna swim a kilometer? I've only got one arm okay go for it
10 You know, he just raised over £400,000 in that one kilometre open sea swim. And as he pushes into this, he goes on these adventures more opportunity comes back his way. He touches the lives of more people. He meets new people. We learned new things and I just... How are you going to make it happen. It doesn't have to be hard work, You just got to enjoy the journey and Mark's story, it just exudes all of that and uh...
