Andy Lopata recounts how being friendly to receptionists at the Benefits Agency early in his career inadvertently made his job easier. He notes that many modern companies ask receptionists for their impressions of job candidates before the formal interview even begins. Jonnie Jensen adds that he teaches his children to be polite to service staff, such as workers at Greggs, noting that "good things happen to good people."
