Violence and misogyny are often the results of men being at odds with their own masculinity rather than being "too masculine." When boys are forced into rigid ideals of toughness and denied emotional expression, their suppressed pain often manifests as secondary anger or outbursts. Effective interventions should focus on the culture of boyhood and the normalization of cruelty among peers rather than simply teaching boys to be better for girls.
