About this episode

Pete Cann, famously known as The Laughter Man, joins the Team Super Dad community to challenge the stoic norms of modern fatherhood through the lens of laughter yoga. A former hard house DJ and recruitment entrepreneur, Cann details how the COVID-19 pandemic decimated his £1.5 million business, forcing a radical pivot from corporate headhunting to leading global wellness workshops. He joins host Jonnie Jensen to argue that intentional laughter is a vital physiological tool for men to manage stress and avoid the common pitfalls of parental burnout.

Cann traces his journey from the 1990s Bristol rave scene and the BBC documentary Ecstasy to the WOMAD Festival, where he eventually succeeded his mentor, Curly Steve, as a laughter yoga leader. The discussion explores the science of endorphin release, noting that ten minutes of sustained laughter provides aerobic benefits comparable to twenty minutes on a rowing machine. Beyond the physical, Cann and Jensen examine the F5 framework—focus, fitness, finance, family, and fun—while addressing the specific vulnerabilities men face when stepping out of their comfort zones in professional and domestic environments.

Listeners are treated to a live demonstration of the Giggle Phone and Worry Juice exercises, showcasing the raw energy Cann brings to his mission of reaching one million people by 2022. Between stories of London Underground flash mob ambitions and Mary Poppins references, Cann shares how his wife Chloe and their children have integrated morning laughter sessions into their Somerset home life. The segment concludes with a call for fathers to join the Team Super Dad Facebook group and participate in the bi-weekly Dad Call on Zoom to foster deeper peer connections.

CHAPTER 02 / 19 Discussion

Pete Cann, Laughter Yoga and Somerset Roots

Pete Cann, known as The Laughter Man, joins the program to discuss the importance of fun and laughter in parenting. The conversation covers Pete's origins in Somerset and Bristol, as well as his first encounter with laughter yoga a decade ago following his involvement with the Landmark Forum.

pete cann· laughter man· bristol· somerset· landmark forum

03:11 Hey, welcome to the Team Super Dad Live podcast. This is Jonnie Jensen creator and founder of the Team Super Dad community and success system for dads who want to create their best life ever fed up with being stuck and actually want to live more fun have more money more time greater relationships And especially laughing more often, which whether it's your kids with your partner or friends the core tenet of Team Super Dad is fun and laughter. So as you can see from the banner here... Oh and waving wiggling around in the back I forgot to hide him away we've already seen him! The big reveal is ruined! I didn't hide you away Pete oh man

03:55 I think the Ringwalk is in Calgary. And now live from somewhere southwest, I think it's Bristol incoming The Laughter Man Pete Cann! I was just mute then for a second, was i? Just like moving things around. Like one of those old kids cartoons you know... Oh man good to have you here today Pete! Nice to be here thanks for inviting me Got your bristle twizzle in the accent Oh yeah, well I'm originally from Taunton Somerset so i've got a cider twang but I've moved up bit more to the city life. Bit more Bristol mate! When I was at uni all the people from Somerset were absolute nutters you know like...I'm just going to move you to the other side because then I can look at the camera better it was obviously I talk quite freely about sort of the 90's and

04:56 A bit of rave culture and all the things that we got up to there. Oh yes, the big smiley in the background if you're watching live you can see that behind Pete and if you're listening on the podcast there is a big 1990s acid rave smiley in Petes background This is our podcast right? We do this on a pretty regular basis this is my third podcast conversation this week I don't like to use the word interview because it sounds a bit boring! And there are so many boring podcasts out there But the people that we have on really do, as far as I can... Some of the stories are inspiring. For some people it's useful and instructional like yesterdays when we had Raymond Holt on financial advisor business coach. We talked about the importance of managing money and so that's sort of practical stuff but then there is emotional stuff, relationship stuff and having fun my dad loves to remind me

05:55 like whatever's going on as crap as it is. He says to me, son you've been through some shit but the most important thing is to keep having fun and he goes that's what I worry about. I worry you're not having enough fun And he comes from that point, throughout his life some pretty roller coaster stuff. He's always rinsed it for the most amount of fun so getting Pete on today I did a laughter yoga as is now known, a laughter session about 10 years ago with some landmark friends. I did the Landmark Forum and whole bunch of landmark courses And we did one then and it was ridiculous. It was silly, and weird and brilliant all in the same time. Going back to my previous point about Nutters from Somerset... ...it's no surprise that The Laughter Man is from Somerset! Drinking cider – this is what I knew of people from Somerset! Drinking cider and poking asses! That was them! Oh mate you just tarnished me massively!

CHAPTER 03 / 19 Discussion

Rave Culture, BBC Ecstasy Documentary and DJing

Pete Cann reflects on his past as a club promoter and DJ under the name Big Pete, specializing in hard house and trance. He references a BBC audio documentary titled Ecstasy that explores 1990s rave culture and its impact on reducing football hooliganism through the shift from alcohol to dance music.

rave culture· hard house· bbc ecstasy documentary· hooliganism· vinyl

06:59 Alright so look I'm on 270 days no alcohol right, so i am cleanly act up and when it comes to the smiley face okay. So if you can see over there are a set of techniques and there's a lot of vinyl as well. So I used to DJ like tramps in hard house My Revival, I used to promote a club night called Revival and anyone watching on my feed as well you know they'll know me as Big Pete that was my DJ name. But since the laughter started coming in why not use the yellow smiley face because it just makes you smile i think personally. There is a great podcast, I think it's more like an audio documentary I'd call it really on BBC and it was called Ecstasy right? It wasn't just about

07:46 Ecstasy. It was a documentary about rave culture and house music, and the drugs that came with it but it was all the good and flipped around it was all the bad as well you know so just really fascinating And then what they did is well they got some screenwriters to create some short plays that summed up some of the stories that were coming out all the people they interviewed and it was brilliant. They talked to DJs, club promoters... They've got people on there who are like drug dealers you know? People who have accidentally found themselves in that world

08:30 And so, you know for someone who lived through that period I found it a fascinating listen. And i think as an historical reference point now we're talking like 30 years ago... That's long time isn't? It is but that has a movement of people across the UK let alone what rest the world at generation of teens and 20s. Maybe more open-minded for what we did possibly But there's a lot of conversation about how it solved hooliganism in football. Instead of turning up pissed ready for a fight, they all turned up with a tablet inside and ready for a hug and sing song like so... Where are we going with this? I don't know mum you're not watching AF.

CHAPTER 04 / 19 Discussion

Transition from DJing to Laughter Coaching

The discussion explores the parallels between DJing for large crowds and leading laughter sessions, noting that both roles involve evoking emotion and entertaining others. Pete Cann describes himself as a showman who finds self-gratitude in the joy of others, a concept linked to working in one's "flame."

showman· emotion· dance music· laughter coaching· penny power

09:20 I pretty much consider myself a bit of an open book in that regard and i feel like the more, I acknowledge my past. The highs and lows the more I look at it in inquisitive fashion and share it the more value actually can be to people so that's my approach yeah no it's true I was only joking mate I mean you know again I used to DJ, I used to promote club nights. Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday Monday for a year went to Ibiza you know that's a big bit of my past and my wife Chloe helped me sort of dragged me out of that slightly which well but then when the kids came as well so everything sort

10:12 I'm kicking and screaming slightly, but you know i'm so happy that i had that experience and met all the people that i met at the time. But also i'm happy where i am now to look back on it and go yeah that was a good time! And what i've realised recently is Because I used to DJ and there'd be some times where there would be like a thousand people in front of me just dancing to the music. Alright, it wasn't my music but i was putting the record on for them to dance. And I was having it exactly! Then all of a sudden you know I've discovered this other passion that I'm just like... It's igniting the passion that I've got within me which is that I am a showman. The more I do this

10:54 So invoking emotion through dance, but now I'm evoking the motion through laughter and it's just in my head. It's the same thing is making people happy and feeling good about themselves. Well you're tapping into there a core friend of mine called Penny Power she talks about working in your flame so You know, there is an element there to which you're creative. You're entertaining but also I assert that you are feeling some level of self-gratitude by the joy in others. There's some kind of feedback. Yeah! I love it. So part of my when i do my sessions on Zoom like that's where being obviously put a lot... Stop there! Perfect time to introduce yourself now

CHAPTER 05 / 19 Discussion

Laughter Yoga Discovery at WOMAD Festival

Pete Cann recounts discovering laughter yoga at a festival in 2016 after witnessing 100 people laughing on the ground. After training as a leader and ambassador, he eventually took over the WOMAD laughter sessions in 2019 from his mentor, Curly Steve.

womad festival· curly steve· laughter yoga· endorphins· positive mindset

11:40 And what you do, because this is Pete Cann the Laughter Man who I found on LinkedIn when i was thinking to myself about fun and laughter. And a friend of mine said oh you should talk to Pete Cann the Laughter Man! Amazingly rhymes perfectly thanks to your dad and his ancestors. Yeah exactly it's better than Pete Cann The Dustbin man which I had at school mate to be fair so uh but then also I used to have at school if anyone can't Pete Cann Cann and it's just like actually Pete Cann And if I can, you can. That's another bit that I do. It is all about positive mindset and ultimately I'm nobody! You know? I've come from nowhere but because I believe in what I do and believe in the power of law of attraction, visualization manifestation... The whole thing it's so... If I can, you can. Luckily I have got the surname Canne so its a win-win

12:30 Pete Cann, Laughter Man Back in 2016 when I was walking through the Arboretum and heard loads of laughter, and thought what is going on? There must be a comedian. And then like a bit of fun walk around the corner there's like 100 people just lying on the floor laughing to themselves! I'm just like right now I am at festival but this looks interesting so... There was sign saying Laughter Yoga daily at half eleven So i told my wife and kids look tomorrow im gonna go to Laughter Yoga

13:13 Go on then, have fun. Off you go! I went and did this session with this guy Curly Steve and it was amazing. It was just like... You're doing all these exercises and laughing and then the lying down bit is sort of...you do this grounding meditation but just before the meditation You lie on the floor, now you've got all your pressure points on the floor so when you're laughing you can't stop laughing because everything's wiggling and jiggling around. And then you've got someone next to you thinking I've calmed myself down and then someone grunts or snorts and that just sets you back off again! So you've got this ripple of laughter just flying around the carpet as it were... Then Steve grounded us and i sort sat up and was like whoa

13:57 And if it really felt that I was back in, you know that adrenaline rush, the endorphins everything just made me feel really clean and really just...I'm tingling just talking about it because of that feeling when I first discovered it. And I went back and saw Chloe and the kids, and I just got this massive grin. She's like, look where have you been? What are you on? And I was like laughter! This is laughter! So I went back the following year and did every single session for four days there was a more intimate one in a teepee I really got engaged with it and just had the best festival ever. And anyway, rolled forward in 2019 Steve stepped down from doing the WOMAD sessions and i ended up running it! And I've got 100 people around me just laughing and bringing this energy up and I was like yeah just euphoric

14:52 Yeah, this power within us all that we've all got this laugh. And my power and my passion is to be able to just pull that laugh out of everybody and not everybody... It's deeper for some people but I don't know if I've learnt this knack to do it and it's used utilizing the laughter yoga practice that have been taught because you get taught, you know, I'm a leader, you can be teacher or you can be an ambassador there are lots of different levels with Laughter Yoga What I've discovered through the Zoom sessions, there's certain exercises that I know get me quickly to where I need to get to. And if they see me laughing as well it gets other people going and pushing the boundaries!

CHAPTER 06 / 19 Discussion

Managing Engagement in Virtual Laughter Sessions

The challenges of leading laughter sessions over Zoom are examined, specifically how to handle participants who remain unengaged or distracted. The conversation touches on the importance of an open mind and the etiquette of participating in virtual team-building environments.

zoom· business speakeasy· digital marketing· engagement· group dynamics

15:39 I work with some people who run a zoom training, right? The business speakeasy. And yeah so you're managing a room just like any sort of environment but you've got the grumpy one, the chatty one and the people are really up for it and i'm pretty certain The experience for everybody is enhanced by them all joining. You don't want that one square not doing it. Yeah, and don't get me wrong that does happen though! And what I've decided is...I've got sticky notes now so I haven't done it yet but it's weird because you know I think naturally as humans we especially if we're like trying to

16:23 You know, I don't know. Teach someone something or whatever you can't help but be attracted and drawn to the person that's not in it and rather than like the other 20 loving it crying wiping their eyes laughing you did there's one guy just like on their phone and you're just like and you're just sort of... And maybe I think personally and I'm gonna be honest I do think is rude this is like look I'm giving my time here to give you The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Pete Cann, Laughter Man, Team Super Dad, Tescos

17:05 You know, when people aren't engaged in a team meeting you can tell and I've got this...I suppose I used to just then dive into them a little bit and just go like Jonnie how's it going? Are you with me or...? But you don't want to pick on people on Zoom when you're doing a laughter session because that's not what it's all about. Well I've done that too in all my digital marketing training. Going back 10 years now I was doing all that and talking about social media and someone is going well I'm just not gonna do it Well, it's pointless. It's crap! It's ridiculous! Okay, but you are here. So just go with the flow for the day. Open your mind! Totally like give it a go dive in see what happens. I think one thing that I want to let listeners know as well is that I have got serious part of me and not always laughing all the time because i've run a business for the last 11 years so

CHAPTER 07 / 19 Discussion

Impact of COVID-19 on Hospitality Recruitment

Pete Cann discusses the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on his recruitment business, which saw turnover drop from £1.5 million to approximately £200,000. He explains how the lockdown served as a catalyst for him to pivot his focus toward his passion for laughter coaching.

recruitment agency· hospitality· covid-19· business turnover· lockdown

18:04 They see a managing director, owner of Chef. Listen to that word chef and think about where we are at the moment. Recruitment agency so as you can imagine at the moment there ain't much need for that So I've gone from like seven figure like last year We turned over one half million so not bad sized business this year were on for two three hundred thousand and That's After 11 years of our first baby as well, you know it was our first child me and Chloe like I've spent 11 years that... You know if i think about it seriously that's just really not great but ultimately what I suppose during lockdown I've managed to put the red hat on and the passion is there so. So I have got that as well so I think people are going through a bit of a tough time and maybe sometimes look at me as well thinking oh well he's just doing this da-da-da

18:57 No, I've got this other stuff going on and this is one of the reasons why i'm doing what I do on a daily basis because it makes me feel better about myself and makes me you know get these things in check really. So your dad? Yep! Your Dad? You married? How long have you been married for? I've dropped him right in it now. Right, did you ask that question? So now i'm talking while standing up in my head uh 11 years we got married in Thailand when we were traveling and we traveled for 14 months we got married in Thailand on the way around and then had a nine-month honeymoon on the rest of things so yeah every day and I just got text saying it's 12 years

CHAPTER 08 / 19 Discussion

Entrepreneurial Spirit and Career Pivots for Dads

Jonnie Jensen and Pete Cann discuss the necessity of stepping out of comfort zones during economic shifts. Jensen shares his own history of considering a career as a fitness instructor and life coach before returning to digital marketing, emphasizing the importance of pursuing one's dreams.

entrepreneurship· career change· digital marketing· life coaching· family leadership

19:44 Just for anyone who's listening, right? Watching. We are going to do a little bit of a laughter session later on in this so hang on in there I'm also gonna share the screen and bring up one of my favorite movie clips which which I really thought about when I was getting set up for Pete this morning but I just, I think it's important that point is just not let just sort of pass on by people. Team Super Dad is about men, about dads being confident and feeling not like they're leading their family in an old school way like I'm the man, I'm in charge but by confidently stepping up and leading their family and having the chops to either follow their passion or do what's needed or even better than two overlap

20:30 And how nerve-wracking has it been to step out and do something new? It's weird because I've been given this opportunity to do this right now. So it hasn't been nerve-wracking, because what else am I going to do right now? Am I just gonna sit here and go, Do you need a chef?" Because no one needs a chef at the moment! No one does but there are a lot of chefs out there and no one needs us as hospitality. As a chef

21:11 When I've chefed in the past as well, you'll never be jobless in hospitality. You'll never be jobless that's what hospitality was about it's decimated at the moment. Hospitalities It really is. But again, luckily for me I had this other project that was bubbling around in the background that now I've been given the opportunity and I'm grateful for the situation. I'm grateful to be able to do this and I'm not saying it's great because Covid its crap man! Its messed up so much But again, it's the way you frame things in my mind. It's like well you could sit there and be all doomy and gloomy about everything that's going on. You can watch the news, you can just get programmed with everything that's going on or you could step out your comfort zone and you can just do it and give it a go! And if what have you got to lose? You've got to lose a few hours, a few weeks of your time but at the moment...

22:10 I wasn't nervous about stepping into it, just because I knew it was my pool. The pool was there so I've just gone with the flow really. Yeah and that's the important message for me, for dads and mums as well but if anyone has got that entrepreneurial spirit in his set they're going this is rubbish! I want to do something different. I've shared this before Team Super Dad is that for me And it came out of a situation of upset and breakdown and marriage troubles, stuff like that. But going back about seven years before that

22:46 Just before I met my wife, now ex-wife. Um...I was like right wanna be a fitness instructor? I'm gonna go and take my nutrition things. I'm going to go and study about life coach. And then when suddenly had stepson and we were planning for marriage put it all on the back burner in and went back into digital marketing nothing wrong with that i just pointing out people that If I'd picked up that idea at the time, the challenge of working on it for a year getting those qualifications. It was nerve wracking and I honestly believe that coming out of what might have been a challenging year making ends meet, I would've had these qualifications and skills and drive and gone off down that route just as successfully even probably more successful than I did with digital marketing so

CHAPTER 09 / 19 Discussion

Parenting Challenges and Screen Time Habits

The conversation shifts to the difficulties of parenting during lockdown while running a business. The hosts advocate for "phone-free" days and blocking out dedicated time for children to ensure high-quality engagement without the distraction of mobile devices.

screen time· mobile phones· lockdown parenting· quality time· swimming

23:37 Yeah. Make your dreams, make them real! Definitely definitely and it's just that it's... And like I say what have you got to lose really? What have you gotta lose? You've gotta lose a bit of telly time in the evening if you've gotta do on the side you know that's just how it is and I mean one thing I know that I have lost because it's Team Dad it's all about obviously you know I am my father must but I forgot Nila who's nine I've got Charlie who's seven and the first initial lockdown when they weren't at school Was really, really hard because it was hard for everybody. You know we all had the same challenges but also I think for me and Chloe we run the business together so we're trying to hold onto this business We've got two children that want our attention

24:20 as well as, you know so the stress levels were just really like spiking and I'm sure most households were exactly the same. And then throw in there the laughter not that actually like putting me in a good headspace but actually just going what I want to really want to do that So and recently on back to that stage where The kids You know I wanna spend time with my kids I do wanna say but I also feel it's weird I'm just torn because I really wanted push this I'm

25:08 So they'd have a swimming lesson half an hour by each other. Charlie first, then Neela. That half an hour I would be on the other side of the pool and we just would be messing around. And when I say mess it's like that is how we swim underwater. We're talking, always under water and engaging because you haven't got your bloody phone have you? So you are not properly engaged as it's so easy to And I'm a nightmare for it. And, and I'm sure many people watching listening are a nightmare for it as well the screens are just sucking away the quality time and it's just like...and yeah! I'm aware of it but I'm not enough aware of it at the moment to be you know? Does that make sense? Yeah no it totally does and people should if they don't do this already block out a day in their week or certainly the weekend if they're working in the week uh to say right I'm not doing mobile phones on a Saturday

26:02 Just put it down, put it on charge leave alone and have that not be something that your kids looking at you on your phone and almost like sharing your time with them. And your phone is not, you're a bad dad or bad parent. It's just it's just this stuff become a habit is what we do so if you take the kid to the park literally leave the phone at home or something like go go phone free for day and on the swimming front We just loved as well where else will your kids happily do the same thing for two hours? Our record is something like three hours And

CHAPTER 10 / 19 Discussion

Family Dynamics and Laughter at Home

Pete Cann describes how he integrates laughter and physical affection into his home life with his wife Chloe and their children. He mentions his practice of laughing for ten minutes every morning at 8:00 AM and how his daughter sometimes joins these sessions.

family life· marriage· hugging· daily giggle· stress relief

26:56 You know, that's when all the masses start to arrive. Same thing me and my boy we've got a volleyball like where you punch the ball back and forward to each other for years we were bobbing around oh we did 20 or we did 21 and then our records are like 230. Four hours later just still exactly. Back to the laughter right because You do it for people in their office, you do it at festivals. Do you do it with your family? Do you like say guys we need to laugh let's do... I try okay! So they have all laughed together and there has been one or two sets. And again you know so Chloe my wife she gets it

27:48 But she's not as open to it basically, which is great because also I've got somebody there that like when i go i'm going to do this and that and then she's like meh. And I'm like okay well that's probably one of my hardest objections so if I get Chloe to do it then I'm sort of on to a winner but there have been times... So with Chloé If we're having a moment where one of us is a bit stressed or anxious, and it happens. I'm a big hugger man! I love cuddles. Chloe, I'm the first one to say sorry because that's why I just want to get rid of everything straight away. I'm sorry give me a hug and then i'll hold and then when you feel the hug relax I'll start chuckling like that... It's nice because if you've ever hugged somebody and just chuckled

28:37 The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Pete Cann, Laughter Man, Team Super Dad, Tescos Again, I laugh every morning for 10 minutes. So there are some days where Neela more so... I was like, look, Neela come and sit in with me and we'll laugh with the... There's usually about ten of us that will laugh for ten minutes at eight o'clock in the morning And she'll just sit there and she'll laugh. And I think ultimately that the main thing is they like happy laughter dad They don't like shouty dads and shouted dads...

CHAPTER 11 / 19 Discussion

Men, Vulnerability, and Emotional Outlets

The hosts discuss why men are often hesitant to participate in laughter sessions, citing a fear of losing control or appearing vulnerable. They suggest that laughter serves as a vital outlet for raw emotions, including anger and stress, which can help fathers avoid shouting at their children.

vulnerability· male emotion· anger management· daily giggle channel· mental health

29:18 He's in there. Me too, yeah! So that's amazing because I had a conversation with another dad in the Team Super Dad group the other day about anger and about shouting at his kids so a daily laughter session can really free you up and actually get some of that raw emotion whether it's anger or whether it's laughter whether its tears but is like it's like it's an outlet for raw emotion Yeah, definitely. Definitely and like I say you know so 10 minutes a day that was something i was doing probably about over a year now been laughing at eight o'clock in the morning and there's...I'll share the link we call it The Daily Giggle Channel and what's really interesting is usually predominantly all females that are there but hardly any men ever come to the laughter because I know and that's something

30:07 The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Pete Cann, Laughter Man, Team Super Dad, Tescos Release, you know we don't want to be vulnerable because when we let the laugh out with... We're not in control of ourselves possibly. You know there's definitely something there and it's I think being The Laughter Man I need to dive deeper. We're gonna do something a bit right? I can tell you from 10 years ago when i did The Laughter Sessions on mobile phones then right so that was like a chat room yeah and someone invited me and and I was like this is proper flipping weird! And at the same time

30:47 Having thrown myself into it, not like the guy on the top left of the zoom call that held back. Throwing yourself into it because you don't know what's on the other side and then just at the end be like I was actually pretty good. It's ridiculous and I feel good. That's it, you feel good! Why would you not want to feel good? Yeah that that's my question and that's what i don't understand... why do you not want to feel good about yourself? And you've got it, it's just here, it's just a ha ha ha

Mary Poppins Laughter Scene Analysis

The segment references the classic "I Love to Laugh" scene from Mary Poppins where characters float to the ceiling. This cinematic moment is used to illustrate the infectious nature of laughter and how it is nearly impossible not to join in once it starts.

mary poppins· bert· uncle albert· infectious laughter· movie clip

31:29 And that's all it is. It just, there's laughing! I'm going to bring in my movie clip here right because it's Mary Poppins right? I love to laugh. It is a quintessentially you know, quintessential moment in this movie but the thing I love about it most is it is just so silly and funny we can't play all of it because it takes too bloody long but Here we go. So, so Bert and Mary take the kids to visit Bert's uncle right? And they and he says to them on the way in don't laugh right because if he...don't join in because if we all join in like it was something like last once upon a time It took us two days to get him down off

32:20 and the other. So it goes on and they all end up on the ceiling, let's jump for a little bit. They all end up on the ceiling and um... And it is you can't not laugh! That's that's the point you're making isn't it? Yeah Pete You can't not join in It's infectious

CHAPTER 13 / 19 Discussion

London Tube Laughter Flash Mob Ambition

Pete Cann shares a bucket list goal of starting a laughter flash mob on a London Underground train during rush hour. The discussion includes logistical ideas for the stunt, such as using the longer gaps between stations on the line toward Heathrow.

london underground· heathrow· district line· flash mob· bucket list

33:03 It's infectious. And you know, there is one thing that I am going to do and it is on my bucket list! I'm going to get on a tube in London with a few stooges – just a few not many – rush hour And I'm just gonna stand there with my phone and iIm just going to start laughing. And now, I'll have a couple of stooges set out so I'm putting it out in the world! I mean when you're doing that... Yes! So one live video with it and let's get that whole carriage laughing on Rush Hour. You know what like? Like I don't know, I'm Bristol boy innit but I've been to London enough times to see everybody just stood there going and like just chuckling away

33:44 The mission is like within sort of, well actually what would be really useful because anybody from proper London who knows the tube distances it'd be good to know a distance between maybe where we've got like three minutes possibly enough time to really make it work. It'll be as you're getting out to the edges like on the district line or so or if you're going out on the on this but literally off towards Heathrow you get some good gaps there basically Perfect! So that's it then? We'll have to do it up towards Heathrow I'm Because people are less perhaps stressy. There's definitely scope to do it. You could have the laughter carriage mate, you know what I mean? It could be like every Friday come to the laughter carriage and get in there with people wearing wigs hats and just having fun man! It'd be brilliant Well there was a...I used to obviously commute up and down to London And then on the Friday afternoon there was the drinking carriage which would basically

34:52 We went to Edinburgh once on a stag do I organised for my one of my best mates Matt and the train was packed we had to book the tickets. And anyway, so we sat there we got flipping ice boxes and cooler bags and like were fully ready for the party yeah? And he's like welcome to this Edinburgh this fast trains da-da-dah. The buffet carriage is in the scene and the quiet carriage is coach D right! We look to our left, there's a big D on the window and we just all start laughing. And we just go that ain't happening!

CHAPTER 14 / 19 Discussion

Benefits of Laughter Workshops for Corporate Teams

The discussion highlights the physiological and professional benefits of laughter workshops, including endorphin release and improved team connectivity. Pete Cann notes that ten minutes of laughter can be equivalent to 15-20 minutes on a rowing machine, making it an effective wellness tool for office environments.

corporate wellness· endorphins· cardio· team building· mental health

35:33 And the thing was by the time we got up to near Edinburgh, like word had got out that because we were pissed in having a proper party. Like loads of people had come up and joined us in the quiet carriage and then you're having a party! I love it! Party train mate, party carriage is brilliant D for debauchery and drinking. So Pete, let's do this right? So you go in... You do this with people in their offices or Zoom at the moment but it can be an office based thing right? You're going to do workshop places. Yep. What are some of your teams?

36:12 Sorry? What does that do for teams, why is that good for teams. So I mean one thing it lightens everyone's mood okay so just it just makes every especially so let's just take zoom calls at the moment how its happening a lot of businesses are very conscious of well-being in their teams massive it's a massive thing at the moment so they need some lightness in there and thats what laughter does during the session You start seeing your colleagues that you usually maybe sat in the same office, usually. You're just seeing them laughing. Maybe you've not heard Jonnie laugh for a while or haven't seen him laugh for a while. That's going to set you off and trigger some other emotions where you had that laugh over at the water cooler.

36:53 The Jonnie Jensen Show, Jonnie Jensen, Pete Cann, Laughter Man, Team Super Dad, Tescos I've never met them and i feel like i know them really, really well because we've laughed virtually every day for like over a year and it's crazy so yeah. It does work, it connects you to each other, it releases endorphins which basically you know that's your happy hormone so you can't be stressed or anxious when you're laughing and there's this little sort of like this bit of a come down at the end of it as well so just puts you in a real nice calm state

37:34 And it's a good cardio workout as well, because again we're sat down most of our time in the day. This is me sat down by the way because I didn't just shrink! But we're compressing you know our lungs are compressing and and we've got this little slither of air at the bottom of our lungs that doesn't come out basically because we're compressing all day until we actually do some real deep breaths... We're not going to release get the fresh air in Get it back out again. And again, so that's the cardio. So they say 10 minutes of laughter is about 15 to 20 minutes on a rowing machine and we can't go to the gym either at the moment so we may as well laugh for a bit. Yeah loads loads of goodness mate! Loads of goodness I love it

38:22 people, grumpy people as well. You know like laughter can really pull grumpiness unless they're really steadfast in their grumpiness. A bit like the Mary Poppins clip right? It's it's thanks for joining me up here I didn't know you were going to be on! That is that's the infectious part of it and uh and you also use I guess as a boss it's quite hard to go around the office and go, could you stop being grumpy please? Could you lighten up? Could you be happier like okay so no instead of the massaged lady that's going to come in we're going to come and do a group laughter session. I love that! Yeah definitely and then when we're in person it is definitely... It's like the Zoom sessions on steroids because you get that whole laughing carpet

39:07 You get that whole, yeah it's just magical but you know my I suppose my concern when i first started doing the zoom sessions was is it going to work? Is this going to be as effective but I soon found out it was really effective and just the comments i'm getting. What's really nice actually this week, and last... And actually every session I've run, I've had a comment saying so this week they have a Zoom meeting every day and that they're still doing the laughter set they're doing like the very good yay which is one of the things they're doing the giggle phone they did they're just lightening up and That's amazing. That means so much because I know how that makes you feel and like why would you not want to hang out with your group of colleagues again, and then just one of you says something that sparks someone or someone does something and then you're just all in laughter again for a minute and then back to whatever you were doing? Yeah yeah

CHAPTER 15 / 19 Discussion

Interactive Laughter Exercise and Worry Juice

Pete Cann leads an interactive laughter session involving grounding breaths, the "Giggle Phone" exercise, and a complex routine called "Worry Juice." The physical exertion of the session is noted, with Pete describing the aerobic intensity and the resulting endorphin spike.

giggle phone· worry juice· breathing exercises· aerobic exercise· laughter session

40:01 Right, let's do something. I don't know how this will work but obviously i know there's a whole warm-up thing that you do and things which really gets... How long have we got? That's probably the first question I've got! It's all about what good entertainment is for a podcast and live stream okay so I'm We're going to do a couple of minutes, right? And everybody at home if you're listening to this or if you walk in the dog and running whatever but maybe running might be harder to do. But just get engaged with us! Do this please because it will make a massive difference to your next few minutes okay so first of all Jonnie what I want you to do is put your arms out front straight take a nice deep breath in and we're gonna go... Okay so we're just gonna ground ourselves a little bit

41:10 And perfect. So this next exhale, I want you to just let out a long haaahhh okay? So take a deep breath in and haaaahhhh We're gonna do two now okay so we can take a deep breath in and we're gonna go haaaahhhhh This next one we're just going to let out the longest hahahahahaha we can do and then we're gonna breathe at the end of it right? Take a nice deep breath in hold it

41:47 Hold it, hold it, hold it and... Laughter. Breathe in and relax! Okay so that's got you going a little bit right? So we're gonna do two exercises right first exercise we're gonna do is called the Giggle Phone okay and this looks like this everyone's got a Giggle Phone it can look like your mobile phone okay as well but you could do at any time and it's gonna be the funniest thing that you've heard all day so you just get the phone Take another deep breath in and hold it. And ahhhhhhh!

42:49 Perfect, right. And I'll do one more exercise and this is something that i've done through the whole of lockdown okay? It's called a worry juice now it's quite complex there's going to be about a minute of laughing okay but you just gotta watch me first we get all our little worries like hee-hee so then we're gonna get our ha-has then we're gonna big worries which are ho-ho-hos okay put them in our ear hee-hee-hee We do the same on the other hand Hee-Hees, The Ha-Ha's, The Ho-Ho's Put em in your ears. Keeping them into our hands. Putting them in your hands yeah explaining sorry yes explain gathering your giggles into your hands your worries We put them into our ear, then we hold a cup. Pretend cup to our ear okay and then we're going to take a deep breath in and pretend we're letting the juice out of it and then let out the laugh hahaha! We swap do the same hahaha! We shake like shaking a cocktail shake the laugh hahaha! And then we go wayyyy...we get rid of the laugh okay? Perfect right then are you ready so we're gonna go hehehehe

43:46 Put them in your ear. Swap hands, start with your little laughs. And then get your ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. And then the ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-

44:46 Put a lid on it, shake it like a cocktail! And we're heeeey! Very good. Very good. Heeeeey! Oh no! How do you feel? I feel great. I feel hot! You said about it being an aerobic exercise, right? I'm not sweating buckets but I can imagine after a longer session than that...

45:30 The other day I did three back-to-back sessions. Again, I'm trying to work out what my limit is of how many sessions we do but... So obviously it's winter as well so the heater radiators just behind my screen here pumping out the heat! So Chloe's in the other room she's cold she's fully jumpered up like and i'm just literally sweating buckets just going on. You come onto your next session it's like oh who is this lunatic? Sweating buckets Hello, I'm here to do some laughter. That's alright. Like really, like eyes wide just from a double laughter session. It was spiking the endorphins and that again about having to double out like you know double start it just ah mate i love it Jonnie! I love it so much and just everybody needs this in their lives. Oh I'm pumped as well listen

CHAPTER 16 / 19 Discussion

Team Super Dad F5 Framework and Relationships

Jonnie Jensen recaps the F5 framework of Team Super Dad, mentioning recent discussions on fitness, cash flow management, and non-confrontational communication techniques for couples. He emphasizes that laughter is a basic but powerful tool for creating breakthroughs in the home.

f5 framework· fitness· finances· communication· relationship tips

46:26 I didn't realise there's a whole qualification we can go out and get. I'm fully up for this, i'm fully up for this um and you know there's so many things i'm bringing into Team Super Dad right? The fitness F5 which is literally just Burpees, sit ups press-ups. If you do them you'll get fit right and we've got a couch to 5k type thing in there as well park run basically just get off your ass and go running walk even is a good start but they're just basic things that are coming yesterday we talked about cash flow and managing your finances basically we done some stuff on relationships Finding ways to communicate with your wife or your girlfriend in a way that is non-confrontational. And one of the tips there is like, you're going to say what works for you, what doesn't work for you? What do you love about them most and what would like some more of? The other person's not allowed to talk

47:20 You swap and then you live with it for a week before coming back and sharing. Right? So like, these are things that just they're basic things to cause breakthroughs. And what could be more basic than like you need to laugh! We need to get some laughter in the house, you know very very powerful. Just love it as really really great So what's next Pete? Where does, you know... No one knows what's happening with Covid but hopefully this vaccine is going to come around the corner. So what's next for laughing chefs or are they just gonna keep the two things separate? Yeah so I, my game plan right and um is yeah the chef industry, chef business will come back luckily we've got um... There'll be a real hunger for it!

CHAPTER 17 / 19 Discussion

Future Goals and Networking for Old Ravers

Pete Cann outlines his goal of reaching one million people through laughter by the end of 2022, including a desire to speak in San Francisco or open for Tony Robbins. The segment concludes with a humorous idea for a video featuring "old ravers" navigating corporate networking events.

san francisco· tony robbins· networking· ravers· 2022 goals

48:12 And you know, I mean 11 years is really bad mate. That was actually... I mean 11 years track record so it's not as if we're gonna, obviously apart from the companies that have gone under and stuff but where we are fortunate enough to have one of our girls on furlough, another one who's manning the phones at the moment when it does ring. So I think the game plan I'm just going to keep diving into this rabbit hole and see where it goes. If anyone can help with this vision, my big goal is a million people to laugh in total by the end of 2022. That's one thing that came up when I was doing morning sessions so obviously the bigger exposure starts growing and I'd love to go on stage in San Francisco in front of 1000 people

49:07 I don't know, well San Francisco. I've got a friend in San Francisco so i'd love to go and see him, meet him but also there's a lot of tech companies out there and I think I could be a brilliant warm-up for the session. What you can do is you want to be the warm up for Tony Robbins next Power, Session Of Power or whatever the thing is. Yeah, Power Within or Release The Power. His weekend thing he does have like warm-up people Bye!

49:54 Really like chummy, but I've been to a few Yes group events. Karl's great guy here. Yeah yeah so again i only haven't met him since this but um yeah he comes with well yeah yeah again it'd be lush to meet him face-to-face that's the thing you meet all these people like this and just like...I'd like to give you a hug! Is that sound a bit weird? Hugging going back our raving conversations like the thing of.. I said someone else do you know what the best thing about it was? I chatted to so many people Alright mate, where you from? What are your ads like what's your name what's the name were you from what you had like a ridiculous intro to conversation. And you'd be mates flipping sharing pots of vicks and being best buddies you know. It is funny though can imagine that in the networking event now you go into it alright mate uh what's your name where are you from? Jonnie Jensen Team Super Dad Laughter

50:52 Laughter That would be brilliant! There's a video in that isn't there? When old ravers go networking. Mate, can I swipe that idea? Yeah, yeah, I'll be in the video. Especially in London, some of the posh ones where you get like these little delicate little bacon rolls. Not just a flipping roll with bacon in it's all been poshed up yeah!

Oh, Made Breakfast Burritos! They were just some of the things that we did last week You'll hear more about all of that on The Wrap-Up this Friday Until next time send me some love on Apple Podcasts and a review sign up to Anything and everything over at TeamSuperDad.com And I'll see you in the community on Facebook Thanks y'all.
