Cody Sharp, a member of the church community, shared his experience of receiving cochlear implants two years ago after a lifetime of near-total deafness. He described the challenges of adjusting to new sounds like birds and cymbals, as well as the difficulty of processing two simultaneous voices on a podcast. Sharp also introduced the hosts to the genre of Christian death metal, which he uses for personal worship and exercise.
