The Brookings Institution held a panel titled "Claiming Seats at the Table" to explore the electoral strength of black women. Fellow Andre M. Perry suggests that in many black households, the traditional "Trinity" of MLK, JFK, and Jesus has been replaced in the cultural psyche by Oprah, Beyonce, and Michelle Obama.
