Joe Campana, a World War II and Korean War veteran, faced the demolition of his home by the City of Austin due to safety violations. In response to a news report, Mountain View Homes and local volunteers organized a "house raising" to build him a new home on his property. The community effort provided materials and labor for free to prevent the veteran from becoming homeless.
