In July 1952, at least six UFOs repeatedly buzzed Washington, D.C., appearing on both civilian and military radar over two consecutive weekends. Although the Air Force scrambled fighter jets, the objects easily evaded them. The official explanation attributed the sightings to a temperature inversion, a claim that was widely rejected by the radar operators who tracked the high-speed maneuvers.
