Dalai Lama, Pink Floyd and Dropping Significance
Steve Lovell recounts seeing the Dalai Lama at a festival organized by Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour at Alexandra Palace. He was struck by the Dalai Lama's lack of "significance" and his playful interaction with a child in the crowd while other religious leaders remained somber. Lovell concludes that true liberation is the ability to drop self-importance and "bite the ass out of life."
