About this episode

Louise Miller challenges the traditional hustle culture paradigm by advocating for a strategic deceleration to achieve higher business revenue. The Make It Happen Club founder argues that solo business owners often mistake constant activity for progress, leading to burnout rather than the desired 20k months. By contrasting a client working twelve-hour days with a peer earning half as much in only three days, Miller demonstrates that time optimization is impossible without intentional pauses.

Since its inception in 2020, the Make It Happen Club has utilized a monthly planning process to transition entrepreneurs from a frazzled state to one of focused clarity. Miller asserts that slogging through tasks without reflection prevents owners from identifying which responsibilities to outsource or eliminate entirely. The Betty Loo Online platform currently hosts a special takeover week featuring member success stories, with enrollment for the community closing at midnight UK time on Friday, June 14th. This period of high-speed work versus strategic slowing serves as a critical pivot point for those seeking sustainable growth.

Miller invites listeners to participate in the upcoming takeover week to hear direct testimonials from members who have reclaimed their schedules. The episode concludes with a request for reviews on Spotify and iTunes to help other solo business owners discover these productivity frameworks. Louise Miller remains committed to a calm sanctuary approach for ambitious leaders.

CHAPTER 02 / 6 Discussion

Reconciling the Go Slow to Go Fast Method with Time Optimization

A business owner's inquiry regarding the perceived conflict between "optimizing every minute" and the "go slow to go fast" method serves as the basis for this discussion. The segment contrasts a client working 12-hour days for 20k months with a friend working three days for 10k months. The conclusion reached is that true optimization requires slowing down to ensure time is invested in the most impactful tasks.

procrastination· time optimization· go slow to go fast· productivity· business owners

01:30 A few weeks ago I had a message from a business owner who had been struggling with procrastination and distraction. Here's what she said... I'm a little conflicted because on the one hand, i am totally on board with the go slow to go fast method and on the other, I don't feel like I'm anywhere near as productive as I need to be. I have a client that does 20k months just on 1-to-1 offers and works non stop 12 hour days to fit it all in And another friend that does 10K plus months working just 3 days a week and both of them say they have optimised every minute to make that happen Now the thing I found so interesting in that message was this sense that there's a conflict between optimising every minute and what she described as the go slow to go fast method, when to me those two things actually go hand-in-hand. Because the only way to truly optimise your time is to make sure you're investing it in the most important things and you can only make sure you're investing your time in the most important things if you slow down for long enough to notice

CHAPTER 03 / 6 Discussion

Critique of Hustle Culture and the Importance of Strategic Pauses

The prevailing belief that success requires constant "slogging" and high-speed work is challenged in favor of intentional pauses. Continuous work without reflection often leads to running in the wrong direction or failing to identify tasks that should be outsourced or stopped. Increased efficiency and calm are presented as direct results of monthly prioritization and organized planning.

hustle culture· business success· strategic planning· mental headspace· outsourcing

02:33 The conversation I was having with that person in my LinkedIn DMs really lit a fire in me as it made me realise that there are still many people out there who believe that, in order to be successful you have to be slogging your guts out. You have to be in the hustle and grind mentality – work faster, work harder! And I'm not saying that it doesn't take work to build and grow a business that will sustain you. I've been doing this for almost eight years now and it still isn't easy But I also know that when you're always going at 100 miles an hour, dashing from one thing to the next desperate to get where you are going and terrified to pause for breath because that might mean your lazy or not really serious about your business then there's a very good chance that you're not actually being as productive as you could be. Because you haven't given yourself a moment to check that you are running in the right direction

03:23 You haven't the headspace to question whether you're working efficiently, whether there's anything you could outsource. Whether there is anything that you could stop doing because it isn't actually making an impact and I'm going to be honest with you here... That actually makes me really sad! Because through my work I see over and over again how much more efficient, productive capable and calm people are when they allow themselves to take a breath check in gather their thoughts organize their priorities and create a plan every single month. And I know with absolute certainty that there are so many business owners out there who need that in their life but haven't yet realised that is a missing piece of the puzzle, that will help them get stuff done with less stress and more ease. So i am a woman on a mission right now and I want to spread the word, I want to start a bit of revolution A quiet revolution yes! But where ambitious business owners like you discover it's possible to feel calm AND fired up
