Well, there are a few organizations that have been as supportive as the American Gulf War Veterans Association in terms of supporting Michael and we support their issue. We think that what was done to our Gulf War veterans was a travesty and what Joyce Riley is doing is a very important message to get out to guys who are sick and being told by the Veterans Administration or medical doctors put it in their head but they're dying from it

03:29 They're dying from this disease that they tell them is in their head and so we think it's a very important issue and One that affects lots of veterans because what what's at stake there is an issue basically having been lied to by our own government And so that's why we support Joyce and Captain Riley end and her husband and and and Dave early on in his in whom would be even before We knew about joy, or he just heard about her back in Early 96 I guess the maybe late 95. He interviewed me on his radio station in Waterbury, Connecticut he had a little talk show up there and when he did then the next day or two he was thinking about Michael and even he was working at on a carpentry job and kept thinking about this little phrase going through his head A patch of green in a sea of blue

And he was told that if he didn't wear the United Nations uniform that helmet and patch and so on then would be put in prison or that he'd be court-martialed. He said look guys I'm an American you know? I don't understand what's problem here is. He said I took an oath to the United States of America! I did not take an oath to the United Nations

Even if i don't like the mission, that's not the issue You can't put me under a general from Finland It's against the constitution you can't force me to wear an unauthorized uniform So they did court-martial him when he disobeyed the order There is no question he disobeyed the order The army would not allow evidence of why he disobeyed it be presented to the jury so of course they found him guilty And as a result, we're appealing that. Now we've asked the civilian courts to intervene We've gone to federal district court and they said... ...We won't look at it until the Army is through with him. We appealed that, we lost, went to the Supreme Court and lost there on the right to be heard in the civilian courts. We now lost the court-martial so thats four times. Now were waiting on the decision of the Army Court of Criminal Appeals which was held May 28th this year in Washington, Falls Church Virginia

06:02 We expect them to rule against us, but we don't understand why it takes over three months to decide no I mean you know they could have done this in 30 minutes. You know over coffee and Just gotten it over with they didn't even record they didn't record Orally they didn't have a stenographer to record that that hearing and so these judges can't look back later And say what did we say? 07:03 what they call a green to gold program which is where an enlisted man moves to uh... officers of program well that is not like it's a i was in the air force that's not an easy thing to get they asked him if he would be interested in that and he said well you know guys look up from east texas really have trees you send me the west exit for the don't you know cannot can i see the world before blitzed out there in el paso and uh... so then they sent into saudi arabia after at this follow-up to desert storm And he said, yeah it's a lot like West Texas with camels you know and so can I see some more of the world? So then they sent him to Germany. And it was just a matter of time. He had already been promoted early. He was promoted earlier than he was supposed too which you understand how they can do that with a sergeant and officer signing off on it. And he was in line for sergeants promotion but had to wait for time. He was a good soldier and he'd saved several lives on maneuvers

07:55 He loved it and you'll appreciate this. He said once to me that, he said I get up every morning and say I could do 20 years of this standing on my head. I love this life! And then go to bed every night and he would say I'm going AWOL in the morning. You know how you have this love hate thing that goes on all the time? But but he was a good soldier and he was seriously considering a career And I think what he's proved now is... I know why it would be important to me to not wear that insignia Why was it important him to not wear that insignia? You know a lot of people have wondered if he agonized over it, and it was an instinctive thing. He said He called me up And you should you know dad they've asked me said I think I'm going to court-martialed what do what you done? I Was gonna say we'd been lied to what she just told me that that had to be pretty shocking I mean I thought what on earth have you done. I was already thinking oh

And he said well it's for something i'm going to not do. And I said what on earth is that? And he said they told me I have to wear this blue helmet And we understood immediately what the implications were. But he said, you know it seems to me dad that first of all I took the oath to my country an exclusive oath and i don't see how they can force me to shift my allegiance to a foreign power which is United Nations is by law and treaty definition its a foreign power He said if they can force me to wear that hat in Europe well then whats keeping them from forcing me to wear it in Texas someday? Geography has no defense You cant say sure Sarge you have authority to make do there but not here

The kind of stand that he did though.. That's still pretty impressive. His sergeant asked who is Secretary General of the United Nations and he didn't know. There are gaps in every child's education

We were working overseas in a missionary capacity and we tended to focus more on the positive aspects with what it is to be an American. We also tried to teach our children to think for themselves You put those two factors together, probably that's all you need to do. How dangerous! Ask questions and think on your own. Teach them the Bible, teach them the documents of the founding fathers... I wrote a letter to my dad and he gave me it the other day but there it is in my handwriting from the Philippines

It's a wonderful thing, yet I feel inadequate to be able to respond to it but it has been such spontaneous outpouring all over the country. I was going to say that I can't imagine what you go through. He said alright look it's Friday wait till Monday you'll think about it. So Monday morning at 0900 he goes back in and says well have you thought about it son? Yes sir I'l take the court-martial sir Now I could've said that but I don't think I could have done what he did next

16:34 he went out and ate lunch and held it down. I would have been really uptight having to go to the colonel and say no, you know... And like you said loving it so much there has to be a certain amount of feelings. I hate use the word betrayal but its got to tear at me. You say it was easy but it would have to tear at me. Well yes i guess uh... of all the factors that i've got in my uh... and both gabriel and michael that i see very strongly is it when they see the clearly to right and wrong there's a matter where it doesn't matter where it falls into writing for you know and and i'm sure they told the line publicly but have you been able to speak to some of these officers and some of the people's this around michael up privately what what they've said about what their reaction to it was also many officers active duty personnel from all branches have come to us

It'd be a totally different story if that happened So I think what we proved is nothing else than 1. They were right Michael was officer material you know, and two they're not interested in officer material. I've got to tell you my experiences in the Air Force were the reasons I got out was the lack of leadership when my dad was and he told me it was a situation where colonels majors captains they would stand up for their troop and that troop was there responsible if that true got trouble they'd say no you let me handle his my truth and they would handle personally and what I saw when I was at least one small base in the air force in Abilene Texas it was

And that is a disturbing trend everybody talks about how we may very well have the greatest military in all of land but what I saw so many are flaws it's at times very difficult for me to believe that. I'm sure every military has always had flaws but its sad yet there are really truly there are a lot of patriotic officers And yet like Michael said, you know look these guys have got a career. They've got a wife they've got children They're five years from retirement You know so that's asking a lot because they've seen what happens when you go up against the system It chews you up and spits you out My experiences were majors and above were good guys because they came from from from a Generation

Yeah, and its moved up I talked to Colonel Ray who was you know was a Marine Corps colonel who is our first attorney And uh...was also a Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense A Vietnam veteran combat veteran And he said it's really deteriorated to a higher point now. I mean you're talking about, it has gone up into the ranks of colonels and... And the commander in chief as well! Well let's keep this a family show. Tell us a little bit about what we can do to help Michael? Because we get calls all the time, what can we do? What can we do? What do you think people could do to put an end to this New World Order?

The question is getting asked... And I think its important to note too is that I've heard some people say well im not going get out or sign up no I want them in and having that knowledge. I want them to be a part of the military and have the knowledge in the New World Order so they can be the ones saying, hey this is wrong because if they're not in then we are going to have a huge army just lined up for the UN. I've just made all the Marines mad at me My dad was a Marine in World War II and I was going to join the Marines but it was Vietnam. Tell him Semper Fi and you'll make up for it. Yeah, Semper Fi man my act of cowardice is to join the Navy because it's Vietnam.
