About this episode

Specialist Michael New faces a military court-martial after refusing orders to wear United Nations insignia and a blue helmet while serving as a medic in Germany. The American soldier argues his constitutional oath prohibits service under a foreign power, citing the Nuremberg principles as a legal basis for disobeying what he deems an unlawful command. This standoff at Fort Bliss and abroad has ignited a national debate over military sovereignty and the limits of executive authority over domestic troops.

Support for the soldier comes from the American Gulf War Veterans Association and Captain Joyce Riley, who link the case to broader government dishonesty regarding Gulf War illness and veteran health. The legal battle moved through the Supreme Court and federal district courts before landing at the Army Court of Criminal Appeals in Falls Church, Virginia. Proponents of the case claim the United Nations seeks independent revenue through a Tobin tax on international flights and offshore resources to fund a global government structure. These developments coincide with the establishment of the International Criminal Court, which critics view as a direct threat to American jurisdictional independence.

Daniel New details his son's transition from a model soldier in the green to gold program to a primary target of military discipline. The elder New describes the suppression of evidence during the initial trial and the procedural delays that have stalled the appeal for years. This account captures the personal toll on a family challenging the rise of a New World Order and the potential for blue helmets to eventually deploy within American borders.

CHAPTER 01 / 6 Discussion

Michael New, Specialist Refusal of United Nations Insignia

Specialist Michael New, an American soldier stationed in Germany, refused orders to wear United Nations insignia and a blue helmet on his uniform. New argued that his constitutional oath to the United States prohibited him from serving as a mercenary for a foreign power. The incident led to a court-martial after he declined to obey what he termed an unlawful order, drawing parallels to the Nuremberg principles regarding the duty to disobey illegal commands.

00:00 Daniel New, father of Michael New. For those of you who may not remember or have heard of Michael New, he was a young specialist who was going to be sent over as a mercenary for the UN and he refused to wear an UN insignia stating that, hey I'm obeying the Constitution. I swore to uphold and defend it against enemies foreign domestic. I cannot be a hired mercenary therefore i am not going to obey this unlawful order in fact he's required as we saw from Nuremberg disobey an unlawful order. That's what came out of Nuremberg, you have to excuse me you have to disobey and unlawful orders so we're going go that video right now it is about 11 minutes long this was taken at the Silver Eagle Tap House in McQueenie Texas a wonderful place

00:51 he refused to put on the blue helmet. Same as it was in Douglas MacArthur's day again reporting for The Tie That Binds and The Freedom Report, I have the distinct pleasure tonight we're at the Silver Eagle Tap House for the Gulf War veterans that is being put on its a fundraiser being put up by Captain Joyce Riley telling the truth about gulf war illness and we ran into Daniel New father of Michael New who brought himself some fame by refusing to wear a UN uniform, an UN insignia on his uniform. It's a pleasure meeting you Mr. New. Tell us tonight why you came tonight and then after that what happened to Michael?

CHAPTER 02 / 6 Discussion

American Gulf War Veterans Association, Captain Joyce Riley Support

The American Gulf War Veterans Association and Captain Joyce Riley are providing support for Michael New while advocating for veterans suffering from Gulf War illness. Many veterans report being told by the Veterans Administration and medical doctors that their physical symptoms are psychological, despite the severity of the disease. Daniel New highlights the importance of Riley's work in addressing government dishonesty regarding veteran health issues.

01:30 Well, there are a few organizations that have been as supportive as the American Gulf War Veterans Association in terms of supporting Michael. And we support their issue. We think that what was done to our Gulf War veterans is it was a travesty and what Joyce Riley is doing is a very important message to get out to guys who are sick and being told by the Veterans Administration or medical doctors that its in their head but they're dying from it They're dying from this disease that they tell them is in their head. And so we think it's a very important issue and one that affects lots of veterans because what's at stake there is an issue basically of having been lied to by our own government. And so, that's why we support Joyce and Captain Riley and her husband...and Dave early on in his...even before we knew about Joyce or had just heard about her back in early 96 I guess

02:25 late 95. He interviewed me on his radio station in Waterbury, Connecticut he had a little talk show up there and when he did the next day or two he was thinking about Michael and he was working at a carpentry job and kept thinking about this little phrase going through his head A Patch of Green in a sea of blue and he was seeing Mike, he was just watching Mike and this thing turned into a song which he's written. He sang it tonight I don't know if you heard? It was excellent! It was very excellent! That is a good song maybe you guys can get a cut out to put on your program. Definitely! Tell us for those I should say for those who don't know about the issue that basically he was an American soldier. He was serving in Germany, a medic

CHAPTER 04 / 6 Discussion

Michael New Military Career, Fort Bliss and Germany Service

Prior to his court-martial, Michael New was described as a model soldier who was offered the "green to gold" officer transition program. His service history included assignments at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, and a deployment to Saudi Arabia following Operation Desert Storm. New was promoted early and had saved lives during maneuvers, expressing a deep commitment to a twenty-year military career before the conflict over the UN insignia began.

04:52 So clearly they didn't take it serious and they're not going to do anything but turn us down. But they are stalling for time." Now I haven't had the opportunity to meet Michael, I've read a couple of mainstream news clips Tell me my understanding is before all this happened we aren't talking about a person that has disrespect for authority are we? We're talking about a person who's always just towed the line and been straight and narrow And i'm not gonna call this out on the ordinary for him but you would definitely say that he is not a person that shucks authority, is that correct? Absolutely not. Michael was a model soldier. He was offered what they call a green to gold program which is where an enlisted man moves to an officer's program. I could tell ya I was in the Air Force and that's not an easy thing to get. They asked him if he would be interested in that and he said well guys look I'm from East Texas where they have trees

05:44 You sent me to West Texas where they don't, you know. Can I see the world? He's at Fort Bliss out there in El Paso." And so then they sent him to Saudi Arabia after—at the follow-up to Desert Storm and he said, yes a lot like West Texas with camels, you know and uh... So can I see some more of the world?" And then they sent him to Germany and it was just a matter of time. He had already been promoted early, he was promoted earlier than he was supposed to which you understand how they can do that with the sergeant and officer signing off on it And uh... he was in line for sergeants promotion but had to wait for time Uh.. he was a good soldier and he'd saved several lives on maneuvers

06:22 He loved it and you'll appreciate this. He said once to me that, he said I get up every morning and say I could do 20 years of this standing on my head. I love this life! And then if we go to bed every night he would say I'm going AWOL in the morning You know how you have this love hate thing that goes on all the time? But he was a good soldier and he was seriously considering his career Talk about what motivated this decision I know why it would be important to me to not wear that insignia. Why was it important him to not wear that insignia? You know a lot of people have wondered if he agonized over it, and it was an instinctive thing He said...he called me up And he said you know dad they've asked me said I think I'm gonna be court-martialed. I said what have you done?! That must be shocking! I was going to say in light of what you just told me that had to be pretty shocking. Yeah man I thought What on earth have you done!?

CHAPTER 05 / 6 Discussion

United Nations Sovereignty, New World Order and Domestic Deployment Fears

Daniel New explains that his son's refusal was based on the legal definition of the United Nations as a foreign power, which conflicted with his exclusive oath to the United States. There is a stated concern that if soldiers are forced to wear UN insignia in Europe, it sets a precedent for "blue helmets" to eventually enforce a "New World Order" within American borders. This perspective views the shift in allegiance as a threat to domestic geography and constitutional protections.

new world order· blue helmets· sovereignty· foreign power· texas

07:11 It was an accident. I mean, you know, you're making up excuses for your son. He said well i haven't done anything and I said all right then why would the court marshal you? And he said well uh it's for something I'm going to not do. And I said what on earth is that? And he said well they told me I have to wear this blue helmet. And we understood immediately what were the implications but he said yeah it seems to me dad that that first of all I took the oath to my country, an exclusive oath and i don't see how they can force me to shift my allegiance to a foreign power which the United Nations is by law and treaty definition it's a foreign power. And he said if they can force me to wear that hat in Europe well then what's keeping them from forcing me to wear it Texas someday? Geography has no defense you cant say sure Sarge you have authority to make do with there but not here

07:56 So it's a matter of time, and I think the day will come when we will see blue helmets in America enforcing the New World Order. I have gotten a lot of emails recently about alleged UN troop movements. I haven't been able to go and follow up on them. It is something that I would like to do but already we are seeing some forces at least it being allege doing exercises in different areas of the country We know that there have been Russian soldiers and a number of Eastern Bloc soldiers at Fort Polk, at Fort Riley in Kansas, Fort Polk in Louisiana and others. And we have first-hand reports for the last three years. A lot of people come to me with first hand evidence of foreign troops in the country. Now were not just talking cross training of officers or corps or elite I know the Air Force trains

CHAPTER 06 / 6 Discussion

International Criminal Court, Global Taxation and One World Government

The establishment of the International Criminal Court is characterized as a component of a developing "one world government" structure. To achieve full autonomy from United States funding, proponents are allegedly seeking a world taxation system, such as the proposed Tobin tax. These proposals include taxes on international flights and offshore resource extraction to provide the United Nations with an independent source of revenue.

08:44 pilots who are going to be flying our planes, that sort of thing. At Fort Bliss they do that with 200 Germans and 200 Japanese every... there's a continual rotation But that's growing. I think the day is coming though when we're going to see, you know We've just got a new international criminal court that's been put into power and I've been maintaining it It's like a three-legged stool they need three in order to have one world government They've got to have three things if they don't have now one They've got to have a world taxation system to pay for it So that they can quit begging the United States for money once the union once they have their own source of funding They call that the EU

09:21 Well, they you know that the Rubin tax it's been proposed not the Ruben tax Tobin taxes been proposed a dollar of barrel on every Dollar of barrel attacks on every bill that comes out of the ocean floor A dollar on every or one percent of every international flight
